Watercolour Challenge 9 (Patreon)
Content
Happy Tuesday everybody, the brightest orange leaves on the trees are starting to fall so we have time for one more tree painting challenge before the leaves disappear all together. This challenge should cement your experience and give you the confidence to tackle any tree painting tasks in future.
Welcome along to our new Patrons! If this is your first challenge then I sincerely recommend going back through the previous challenges (particularly the tree painting ones) to get yourself up to speed.
There comes a point in every learning process when you transition from following step by step guides and begin to apply your newfound knowledge on your own piece. This is that moment for our tree painting progress!
This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea patrons have access to.
You will need
A range of brushes including your largest for the initial wash.
Colours of your choosing.
Watercolour paper (cold pressed is my go-to).
jar of water
kitchen roll to blot the brush.
Pencil and eraser
After watching the video...
Don't panic...you've built up plenty of skills over the past few weeks but also there are plenty of gaps for further discovery. Have a go at your very own tree composition whether it is close up with only two or three trees, far away with tonnes of tiny ones, or something all together new.
There are no wrong answers, this is all about reminding yourself that you CAN do it!
If you feel in need of a bit more guidance or want some inspiration, have a look through the following insta story highlights and you will find plenty more tree painting:
'Red Brick House' (towards the end)
'Church' (towards the end)
'Tree Commission'
'Trees'
For this challenge I would particularly love you to be brave and share your work. Use #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco. And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progres
Comment below with your findings, and if you are sharing your work on Instagram, use the #dwpcchallenge and tag me @dewintonpaperco.
Have a wonderful week.
