Hi everyone, I am loving these floral border challenges, I really hope you are too! Welcome to all our new Patrons, if this is your first week with us then be sure to go back through the previous watercolour challenges to build your confidence.

Today's rose trellis border is the most complex so far. This project is all about knowing when to hold back with the detail as there is a lot going on. Also, be kind to yourself and do this on a fairly small piece of paper. I used a 5x7 inches piece.

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

some watercolour paper (my piece is 5x7 inches)

A range of small paintbrushes, I used a 4/0, 2/0

Paint: I used sap green, green gold, French ultramarine blue, permanent rose, yellow ochre, burnt sienna and cadmium orange.

Jar of water

Kitchen roll to blot the brush

pencil, set square, eraser

After watching the video...

Be mindful of holding back with too much detail. Heed my advice with each step of the painting process!

paint along with the watercolour challenge and see how you get on!

And please do have a look at everyone else's interpretations of the brief (search the hashtag and you will see all the patreon insta posts from everyone in here) and celebrate each other's work. We learn from seeing how others interpret a single brief so a community encourages progres

Have a wonderful week.

This would be great to add wisteria instead of roses. A mash up of tutorials!
