Hi everyone! Well done to everyone who has completed the previous challenge with your 'shelfies', I love seeing all the personal details you're including in those.

Today we start looking at how to successfully draw and paint animals.

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like!

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

scrap paper to pencil sketch on

Your usual watercolour set

a pencil

an eraser

After watching the video...

You are welcome to use your own Cheetah reference images or download the images attached to this post so you have them to hand. As I say in the video it can be useful to print them and draw the simple body shapes over the top to get used to the form before drawing them free hand

fill a page with cheetahs in different poses in basic pencil shapes.

Try using simple watercolour strokes to fill out the bodies and start to give contours to the cheetahs.

Have a wonderful week.

My favorite animal since I was a young child! The complexity of the majestic creature makes me nervous but I can’t wait to give it a try. Thank you so very much for showing us how to break down the basic shapes. 🐆❤️

Ah Jane, don't be! Honestly, it is broken down into very simple steps and just go step by step and before you know it you will have some animals in different poses.
