It seems like a big leap from last week's introduction to this full painting but you've done the hard part by drawing the pose! Now it's time to have some fun. I'm so excited to be bringing the theories of my new book to life with brand new animals that I've never taught anywhere before. We will be moving onto pets and smaller animals next but I think a Cheetah is a brilliant animal to study first. Please dont be scared, as always I break things down into steps and make it as approachable and user friendly as possible. Trust me, you will be ok!

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like!

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

Watercolour paper

Your usual watercolour set. Colours I used: Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Burnt Sienna, Mars Black, French Ultramarine Blue

a pencil

an eraser

After watching the video...

Choose a pose of cheetah, I would love to see some different poses to the one I chose. Look back at the previous challenge 60 for the other photos I attached of Cheetahs. Maybe you can have a go at this one first and then try a second one!

Draw and paint your cheetah following the guidelines in the video.

Please share your finished pieces either on instagram, using the hashtag #dwpcchallenge, as well as sharing on Discord so we can all celebrate your painting highs, lows and discoveries together!

Have a wonderful week.

Flipping heck!!!! Need to go for a long walk to think about this.

The more I am learning from you the more I realize that this is all about observing. Every project that seems very difficult at first sight finally can be done just with careful observing and practising. This one is absolutely fantastic! I am so glad that we have it in our plan. <3

That's great that you say that Elena. You are so right! It's just about giving yourself a chance and looking at what is right in front of you.

Yes and I found about 10 different references of cheetahs and now think to sketch them all for training :)
