Ok ok I might have been a little bit mean not giving you any reference photo to work from last week! But I'm SO PROUD of you for getting stuck in and having a go. Here is another pet portrait for you to have a go at; A lovely Border Terrier with tough and textured fur. This one is an exercise in painting more texture into the hair using a dryer brush technique. And I've got a reference photo attached! Aren't I nice!

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like!

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

watercolour paper

your regular watercolour kit, colours I used: Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Yellow, Mars Black, Burnt Sienna, Paynes Grey, French Ultramarine Blue

pencil and rubber

After watching the video...

Draw and paint along with me!

I am so excited to see your paintings! Have a wonderful week. Dont forget to share your pieces on Instagram and Discord!

Ah that's very kind. You can totally do it too! Just dont focus too much on the finished result and enjoy the process

I'm sorry I think I did it wrong last week. I misunderstood and thought we were supposed to pick any dog photo to paint, not specifically look for photos of black labradors. So I attempted my friend's golden retriever as I had a nice photo of him. I guess it doesn't matter though, as it is all good practise. I love watching you paint and the way you bring everything to life.

Thanks Harriet. You most certainly do that in bucket loads. xxx
