Carrying on with the garden shed, I've got a new take on painting in window panes. Then we begin to build up the detail from the foreground and work backwards into the background.

Brushes and colours are referenced as I go through but please feel free to make your own choices. I imagine we will be finishing off this piece next week. It feels like quite a mountain to climb at the beginning of the session but once you're stuck into painting you will be surprised at how swiftly you get through the to-do list.

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like.

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

your regular watercolour kit. I outline the colours and brushes I use throughout the video.

Hi Harriet - I am loving this tutorial. Thank you so much. Quick question - I have changed mine a little bit because I enjoyed doing the flower shop so much that I decided to do a window box under the window and have done tubs of flowers instead of the bench. Left off the tools because I find straight lines so tricky to paint with my shaky hands. So my question is, when should I paint in the flowers? I am wondering if I should do it before the window glass? Maybe I should do the flowers very lightly, then the window glass around the flowers and then go over the flowers again once the glass is dried? What would you recommend as the windows are quite dark and I am worried the flowers won't work on top of the dark?

Hi Harriet: I believe you may have released this video to a wider tier group than you intended. I started to watch it, then I went back to find earlier stages and Challenges and could not find them. The video looks great, and has me considering a change to my tier level, but ethics made me stop watching, and I just wanted you to know of the possible upload error.

Randy thank you so much for pointing this out! Yes I clicked it for all tiers. So that was a good example of what the watercolour challenges are! Thank you, all updated now.

Hi April, yes you probably want to mark out how much space the flowers will take up and then paint around that so you've got unpainted space free for the flowers.
