Hi Patrons, today we have a simple ice skating scene, perfect for anyone keen to capture the winter in a few simple steps. It also utilises a few of the skills we picked up in painting people so do check out the Watercolour challenges on people painting (check the contents page pinned to the top of the home page for more info).

Welcome to all our new Patrons, I hope you're finding your way around my Patreon ok. Don't forget, you can always send me a message if you have any specific questions. Discord is by far the best place for comments and tips on any paintings you've done as a result of the watercolour challenges as you can post your pictures and see how each other are getting on.

If you are new to painting then I highly recommend going back to the first watercolour challenges and working through the first through to get your basic techniques going. Then you can pick and choose whatever you like.

This is a private youtube link which only you sweet pea and cherry blossom patrons have access to.

You will need

Piece of paper (I used 6x8 inches)

your regular watercolour kit.

pencil, eraser

Don't forget to share your paintings on Discord and on Instagram using the #dwpcchallenge. By sharing your work you can ask questions of me or your fellow painters and inspire others to get painting!

My paper always gets ripped whenever I erase my pencil lines; is there any advice on how to avoid that?

de Winton Paper co.

I think if it's always ripping then it could be a few things. Do your initial pencil drawings as faint as possible, then your paper might need to change; get a 300gsm cold pressed cotton content paper for the best results.

I love the retro styling of this, so beautiful, thank you so much 😊

HELP!!!! I've lost the Advent Calendar!!!!!

Janie Landis

Harriet, I am still not receiving any notices (via emails) of any of your new tutorials. I’m a Patreon member at one of your higher levels. I check YouTube and Patreon but am several days behind in your releases. Is there something I should be doing? I receive email alerts from all of my other subscribers on Patreon and just don’t know why I don’t receive anything from you. Thank you very much. Love all of your work!! ❣️

Hi Janie, this is very odd. I'm wondering if you maybe ticked a box to not receive post notifications? This will be something to ask Patreon customer service x

de Winton Paper co.

Nancy I'm so sorry I didn't see this, did you manage to do it in the end?

Nancy

Thank you; yes, I found the calendar. Sadly, way behind in painting it. I will, though, eventually! Happy New Year!
