The expanse cores and star trek cores are completely different my dude. In star trek you eject the whole casing/reaction chamber and the anti-matter with it. In expanse they use fusion engines that create a ball of plasma from a fuel with lasers. They ejected the ball of plasma but not the engine itself. They can just re-initiate the engine by creating a new fuel pellet that is then targeted by multiple lasers to produce a new ball of plasma.

I love the Amos / Mao relationship, mainly because he is the monster that Clarissa is worried she's become. I also love how Amos uses Holden as his measuring stick on how a person should act.
