Yesterday marked the end of an era.

Finnur Nielsen, student at the University College South Denmark, Sonic College, has been interning with us at Fool & Scholar Productions for the last six months. The school paid him a fair salary during the internship, and as a result he got hands on experience, (and credit) while we got to work with a very talented audio engineer! What how much fun it proved to be! So what sort of things did Finnur work on?

His schedule is listed in the image above. This is a loose translation, line by line, with a bit of explanation

Weeks 3-6: Editing, some sound design, (voice acting) and mixing The White Vault Goshawk. Finnur started editing a few scenes toward the end, like the corporate meetings, and the shed that fell down.

Weeks 7-9: Mixing, editing, and sound design for Dark Dice: Shores of the Silver Thrum.  This is both the primary show, a special unreased story, and additional player "handouts."

Weeks 9-22: Production, Dialogue Editing, and Sound Design for Don't Mind: Sealskin Rock - This includes an amazing on-site visit to a tower with a very particular four story staircase, and recording the perfect footsteps, with 12 different variations, going up and down all four stories. Finnur was also present during almost all recordings, and shadowed the casting and communication process.

Weeks 6-7, 13, 22-28: Co-Directing, Production, and Editing on SECRET PROJECT (Coming October). Finnur was present for all recordings, and has significant creative input in editing this show.

Week 3: Orientation and Onboarding. Learning how we work & communicate. Setting expectations for the internship, scheduling weekly/monthly meetings/reviews, and of course, paperwork.

Week 4: Editing and Mixing an interview with artist Yoshitaka Amano

Week 5: Mix review and edits (notes) for the Cruxmont remaster (we're stll waiting for Dayn to have availability to make these changes)

Week 6: Mixing the White Vault theme for the episode 8 intro in Goshawk.

Week 7: The LUFS Presentation we released on YouTube

Weeks 8, 10, 14, 20-21, 24: Producing Podcast Advertisements, shoutouts, shorts, promos, festival submissions, pitch submissions, and short stories. This also includes prep work for Season 2 of Goshawk as sound effects are gathered, cast is wrangled/confirmed, etc.

Weeks 16, 25: Behind the Scenes / QA episode editing, mixing, and production

Weeks 16, 27-28: Editing Dark Dice spinoffs, a secret TTRPG short, and "meet the" episodes. Also shadowing the orchestral recordings.

Weeks 3-4, 8, 11, 13-14, 17-19, 23: Diverse elements of Podcasting that don't fit into a box. I.E. Trademarking, legal, contract management, looking for cross-promo opportunities, setting up festival submissions, advertisements, (shadowing) Patreon RSS management, etc.

We hope that this gives some insight into what our schedule looks like behind the scenes, at least from Finnur's perspective!

That's a well rounded education. You missed putting things on the schedule like walk Eezo, pick up dry cleaning, or wash cars 😉

It was such an honor and a massive privilege getting to work with such an amazing team! These past 6 months have been such an amazing learning experience, and has only helped reinforce my love for the Audio Drama art form!
