Sweltering Midsummer Update (Patreon)
Content
Hey there,
It's the middle of the hottest summer in Europe and we have some nice, cool updates for you. Let's jump in!
Personal Updates. We've been doing everything we can think of to keep cool, but still try to find time for small adventures. We've done a few small hikes, played some D&D, but mostly have been working on the "unseen" work of podcasting. What does that mean? Well, let's talk about it.
"Unseen" Work. We discovered that our YouTube page was missing quite a lot of our content, and while working to remedy this the app we use to make videos decided to embrace AI and hide (or outright removed) many of the non-AI features we use, slowing our progress. Just to restate, we do not use AI in any of our projects. Recent pushes by companies to adopt AI have significantly impacted our workflow. Also, some of you may have noticed that as of October 2025 we've put a lot more effort into our newest YouTube / Spotify videos for Liberty, Dark Dice (Silver Thrum), and Goshawk.
In addition, Spotify has undergone a few hidden updates that randomly removed episodes from The White Vault, Liberty, and Dark Dice feeds. We keep having to go back and re-upload and re-sync content, but overall these feeds should be up and running... again.
There have also been changes to how our merch store works, which means more time behind the scenes. Same with our website. Overall, much of our "unseen" work means you should never notice any problems. Even just maintaining everything is hard work. Now, to some better news!
Award Winning Internship. This year Asbjørn Guldager interned with us for a few months. This was part of the Sonic College's paid internship program, which allows undergraduates to get real world experience. Asbjørn worked with us primarily on Liberty during that time, and is now an award winning intern, as the Japanese Liberty: Tales From The Tower just won BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE PODCAST at the Colorado Webfest! Huge congrats to him and the rest of our Japanese Liberty team! We now have a perfect 3/3 record for Award Winning Interns!
Don't Mind. After a cultural consultant review, the scripts for Don't Mind Riku Cave are officially finalized! We are actively casting voices of Japanese descent (all ages, all genders), and hope to begin recording in about 2 weeks. We welcome you to audition if you are of Japanese descent and have an interest in voice acting (in English). We also worked with Daniel Chudzinski to design a fictional ancient artifact, a Jōmon Dogū (see above) that will play a role in the story and be featured on the logo for Don't Mind Riku Cave's cover art. We cannot wait to get back to scripted horror with a new story tied into archaeology!
Dark Dice. We wrapped up Season 2. Our second longest continuous story (after The White Vault) has reached its conclusion and we're actively releasing episodes for our next story: Shores of the Silver Thrum, while designing and writing the pen and paper book draft of the same name. We've enjoyed working side by side on these projects and hope you're enjoying the horrors we're putting the Silver Thrum cast through. In particular, we were excited to record with Roger Bowmer (who you may remember as the cheery elder from Don't Mind Cruxmont), who will be making a special appearance on the show.
Guardian Statuettes. The Guardian Tier statuettes are now in full production! Each Guardian Statuette is being made by hand for those of you who signed up at the correct tier at the start of this year. After a few hiccups in the molding process, our friends at Brazen & Bold report that they can reliably mail out 10 Statuettes each week, starting on July 10th. This means the last statuette will be sent in September, and should arrive within 1-3 weeks, based on where you live.
Eezo! Lastly, Eezo has gone on plenty of walks, and a few visits to the local river to cool off. He likes to try and eat all the water, and loves to swim even if he looks like flailing chaos. Now, we'll get back to work, and we wish you all the best summer. Stay cool out there!
We look forward to sharing our stories with you!-Travis, Kaitlin, and Eezo!
