This Week - Early February Update (Patreon)
Content
Dear Friends and Supporters,
January was really busy, but much of the work was not as visible (or audible) as we'd normally produce... So we're sharing it here!
Writing: Kaitlin finished writing the new Liberty story AND the new Supporter-exclusive miniseries we're about to announce. She is also currently outlining VAST Horizon Season 2. Talk about a busy month! There is still more editing to be done on the new Supporter-exclusive miniseries before we dive into full production, but we are well on our way.
The above are Kaitlin's plot points (intentionally blurred) for VAST Horizon Season 2 being organized into 10 columns (episodes). It is the first step to her initial outline for the season. Liberty's scripts have also been reviewed by W. K. Statz, our script editor, who's now working on reviewing the miniseries.
Production: Travis released the episodes you've seen in the White Vault & Dark Dice feeds. The White Vault is running at full speed production. As for the Miniseries' current production stage: the music for the miniseries is already produced, and the artwork is also almost complete.
Liberty: In addition, Travis finished pre-production on the new Liberty story. The characters are cast, the scripts are out, and parts are already being recorded... The 5-episode miniseries will premier in March. It is a completely new story that takes place following the events of the Red War... This means that it likely ties into other Liberty stories for those of you who enjoy Easter Eggs. However, you do not need to know anything about the Red War to fully appreciate the story we are preparing for you all.
Liberty Comic Book Series: Travis, Joana Lafuente (Baulder's Gate), Omi Remalante (Marvel), Eduardo Camacho, and Casey Bailey are in the process of finalizing Volumes 2, 3, and 4 simultaneously. Volume 2 is effectively complete. Volume 3 is undergoing final color edits. Volume 4 will be done by early summer. This brings us to our biggest issue: Distribution. We are still seeking a 3rd party publisher as print costs are astronomical (over $60/book).
Dark Dice: We spent a lot of time building better infrastructure and workflow for future episodes. This means more accurate transcriptions, faster turnaround on editing, and potentially more episodes than one a month... when we're not also releasing a miniseries. We're on the final transcripts of the season right now, sound design for episode 10, and dialogue editing for episode 11. Episodes 12 and 13 are already through pre-production and ready for editing (once 11 is complete). Steven Melin, Travis, & Enzo have also been hard at work on the final song for the season. We will even have new artwork to share with you soon, and are already brainstorming future stories.
The Mundane: We finished writing and mailing out our limited edition Base Camp Piedra patches!!! If you were expecting one (i.e. you were a patron in October and sent us your address) it should be arriving within a few weeks, pending what country you're in. This took up most of our weekend, in addition to multiple afternoons, as we addressed and packed hundreds of envelopes.
We're about to do a deep dive into taxes. Basically compiling all of our paperwork for the last 12 months... And we have a LOT of expenses logged that we need to compile here. Podcasting has become a wonderful and complicated part of our lives. Tax season proves this even more with every passing day.
For those interested, we grew significantly in 2019 - with 146% growth on our Patreon!!! We are just past 650 Patrons at the present time, and we are hoping to see continued growth at the same rate, so that by November 2020 we will be making a living wage - AKA what we would be making if we worked a traditional 9-5 job. Our goals, and success toward reaching those goals is clearly visible at the top of our Patreon page. It may seem strange for us to ask "Please share our shows with your friends" but word of mouth has led to most of our growth this last year, and allowed us to make the transition to full-time creators. We could not do this without you, and we cannot grow as effectively without you. Thank you!
Thank you again for your support in making all of these things possible!
-Travis & Kaitlin (& Eezo)
