Thank you for your support! <3Those of you who listen to both versions will notice a few differences in the intro/outro, and the addition of some extra translation credits.

A quick recap of production feats this season:

It's been a very busy and complex few months for us. With protests in Chile, recasting Dr. Carito Ureta mid-season (Alli did a fantastic job as the good doctor!), cast members recording while moving cross-country, and tracking down some seriously rare birds (looking at you, Andean Condor) for vocalizations necessary to our story.

Now that this episode is posted we can also mention that the actor for Maheer is from Lebanon, and it has been somewhat difficult to get studio time over the last few months due to his country's ongoing protests as well. This is his first work in a podcast, but as you can hear he's been really great to work with. This season featured sections in numerous dialects of Spanish, Portuguese, Serbian, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, and Arabic and it would not have been possible without our fantastic translators. We got to showcase the very unique Argentinian (Dr. Ureta) and Chilean (Dr. Joseffa) accents, in addition to (and I'll say it again) sounds from an actual Andean Condor, of which less than 7,000 are estimated to be alive in the world.(!) It's easy to find pictures of these magnificent birds, but hearing them is an extremely rare treat.

A few people had also asked for more information about the redundancy regarding elements of the team, and I felt this was as good as place as any to explain it. In the real world, Patagonia is, more or less, contested territory and any archaeological discovery of consequence discovered (within the region our story takes place) falls under the mutual jurisdiction of Argentina and Chile. It is thus required, in the real world, that both governments send representatives, typically in the form of a local archaeologist and some sort of inexpensive assistant (read as "Grad Student"). So that's how we got the teams of Dr. Joseffa & Simon paired with Dr. Ureta and Eva.

On the topic of the real world we also have personally looked into hiking trips in Patagonia and hope to visit one day! The most comedic comment we heard from a tour guide was how in the winter season he'd often find himself walking as if leaning into a heavy wind in his natural walk, but then he'd realize that it wasn't windy.

Well, time to get back to work on Iluka and The Tower.

Thanks for listening and making our stories possible!
