Mid-May Updates (2021) (Patreon)

Hey friends,It's been a busy and exciting few weeks! To all the new patrons, thank you so much for joining us, and welcome to our amazing community of supporters. If you don't already know, the dog pictured above is Eezo, our pup, and the '&' in Fool & Scholar Productions.

As for updates, we have a lot! First and more importantly, since the announcement that we're working with Jeff Goldblum on Dark Dice, we've gotten a lot more attention than normal. No, really... A LOT... We spent the first 72 hours after the press release just replying to messages we received! Between interviews, meetings, and thousands of emails/messages (that we personally respond to, because we're still a two-person team), and creating our shows, we've somehow worked straight through the last three weekends in a row (not healthy, we don't recommend it). Most of last week has been long days of 8am-2am, and this week we worked through our second COVID shot (during which we both got dreadfully sick for 32 hours), but we are somehow still behind on our busy season workload. We also had huge outage issues with Apple Podcasts and Podbean that we have almost resolved, in addition to migrating VAST Horizon and Dark Dice to join our other shows on our new hosting platform: Acast. Today we've come to the conclusion that we really need a weekend, so the release of Liberty: Mines & Mysteries, Avrum, and VAST Horizon Season 3 will both be pushed back by one week. It's a very big deal for us, just like it was last time, but as we continue to grow and the amount of work we put into our shows increases, we know we need to make concessions for our health.  With VAST, Avrum, Dark Dice, and Liberty to juggle all at the same time right now, we understand that we need to give ourselves the space. It will make for a better overall process, and our stories will sound better as a result! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Next week we're also finally making the big Patreon migration from "per release" to Monthly! (We already uploaded a new intro video!) This has also been difficult for us because our contact at Patreon has been unresponsive and only just informed us that the change will take place this upcoming Monday (as opposed to the 10th, which was the original date we were told). In short, here is the message that we have been asked to share with you:

"Fool and Scholar Productions is switching from “per release” to “monthly” billing on Patreon effective May 1st. This means that every month you will have a consistent price for all of the benefits that are provided and it won’t fluctuate based on the number of paid posts that month.Rest assured, the default amount you will pay each month will not change! Your pledge will be converted from a “per-episode” amount to a “monthly” amount that is exactly the same as you have been paying in each of the recent months (2 creations/mo). You will remain on the same tier you are on, and receive the same benefits. Patreon will be sending you an email with confirmation of this amount, and information about how to change your pledge if you desire to change it.

If you had a cap on the number of posts you pay for each month, this may result in you having a pledge that is lower than the new price of that tier. It’s easy to modify the amount of your pledge to rejoin this tier or switch to another tier in our membership. (Instructions here)

Thank you for your understanding as we make this change. Please reach out if you have any questions. We’re looking forward to this next phase of building our community together on Patreon!"

In the meantime, we'll get some rest this weekend and start the week strong. In the order of release: we look forward to sharing the finale of Liberty: Mines & Mysteries, the start of The White Vault: Avrum, and the finale season of VAST Horizon. There's also some kind of rumor that Balmur (Jeff Goldblum) will be forming an Elven parlor quartet in the next Dark Dice episode. We'll also be sharing bloopers, music, and some more behind-the-scenes updates from all of our shows while we catch up!

Thank you again for your continued support!

Sincerely,

-Travis & Kaitlin (and Eezo)
