This is wonderful! I started listening to Vast Horizon again from the beginning and I believe that I experience it differently. Even better.

I have a question / request, but I don't know if I'm the only one asking if there are others in my boat... I listen to my podcasts mostly when I'm driving, and I drive an old diesel truck for work, which has a lot of noise, and the audio system isn't the best. Whenever y'all do the special effects to the voices for Trennin or AI or "long range interference", the warbling / flanged effects are nice but sometimes they can be a bit overdone, and I can't make out any of the words. Is there a way to tune down or reduce the special effects on the voices? And by all means, if I'm the only one with this problem, I'd also like to know, I'd hate to ask for reduction in the special effects just because my listening setup isn't the best, and I can always listen on headphones during the quiet moments I get. Thanks.

Hey DJ, I'm really sorry about that. It's one of the unintended side effects that, having tried to listen to our stuff while driving an older RV, I also understand well. Unfortunately, reducing the effects would require an entirely new mixing and mastering process for every scene that has a Trennan or AI, which would be a massive undertaking of maybe 20-30 hours? Sorry that it's not in the cards, but as VAST is concluding this season it shouldn't be an issue nearly as much on future stories.

DJ

I appreciate the response and explanation. The series is fantastic, and I look forward to its conclusion. Not a problem, I can always reserve listening to VAST via headphones then, rather than on my drives.

Perfect timing, just finished relistening to all of it again , and now I have a much different outlook and mindset , perfect for hearing new episodes. Thank you for all of your work @fool and scholar

I have a blown speaker in my stock car system so I set the equalizer to Vocal and it helps with some of the voice/special effects distorting or making that speaker loose it. Might be worth a shot to play around with those settings on your system or phone. :-)

Phillip Kelly

Just fantastic. I'm so happy I discovered y'all during quarantine. Now back to catching up on The White Vault.

DJ

Hey Jose, definitely tried that! Fiddled with the settings in my podcast app and on my stereo, but there's only so much you can do on a decade old diesel truck with a rudimentary bluetooth system and old speakers.
