Music: Inheritance (Patreon)

When we saw that the documentarian would be visiting her ancestral home this season and giving a very personal monologue, we knew that we needed a song that would encompass her emotions during that scene. Brandon Boone was more than up to the task and created a haunting new song that felt at home next to our title theme. We went through a few incarnations over the last 5 months, tweaking the instrumentation from "just piano" adding synths, and shifting the mood ever so slightly, resulting in a song that really augmented Hem Cleveland's performance. Notably, we felt it was important to include a reference to the "heartbeat" that's been present in all of the show's music, which is clearest at the end of the song.
