Update: A Busy Seven Days (Patreon)
Content
Hey Friends,It's been a busy week to say the least! We need to get better at posting updates, and instead of promising you more posts to highlight what we're up to I'm simply going to share what we've done in the last 7 days, and what's on the immediate horizon. As of the time of typing, we are ~10,000 feet up in the sky and on our way to Paris in preparation for a panel we're giving at Twitchcon tomorrow (10:30am - The Cool Cat Room), before hopefully seeing the catacombs, flying home almost immediately after, and giving a workshop for the USO (United States military) on how to get started in a creative career. We're hoping to share a recording of the USO talk here!We caught up on 1-1 videos for new Patrons, and wow did we have a few to catch up on since returning from Svalbard! For those who are not Patrons and don't know what this means, we send each and every Patron a 1 on 1 video message! (Generally found in your Spam folder under "Bonjoro") We are actively talking with Patreon (the platform/company) this month about running a feature beta test for a potentially amazing podcast specific update that we're not allowed to talk about yet, but that you will all benefit from. This is a follow up from when we met Patreon in person in London last month, and we're hoping to try these new features in August! This week we launched the new season of Dark Dice: Shores of the Silver Thrum with the release of Chapter 1: In The Willow's Wake. We've really tried to make the story one that all of our non-D&D fans will also enjoy and have a number of really fun tricks up our sleeves that those folks, espcially White Vault fans, will appreciate. Also, the cast list is full of actors you'll recognize from our shows (like Avrum) and ones you might also enjoy that we don't make (like Wooden Overcoats or NoSleep).A listening party on Monday marked the launch of the episode, and something you might not be aware of is that one of the core cast this season is someone we met here, on our Patreon. The internet is a strange and wonderful place, and Shores of the Silver Thrum is the first story in some years that has both Kaitlin and Travis (I'm the one writing this update from the plane) wrote together. This week we signed a book co-publication deal with Nord Games for Dark Dice!!! We've been in talks with them since March about printing Domain of the Nameless God, The True Necromancer, Shores of the Silver Thrum and more in a massive hardcover compilation book, and we're looking to start talking more about this around September. We've been in contact with a dozen artists around the world who are already hard at work on making this book phenomenal. The Boar Knight finale also happend this week, with a more bittersweet conclusion than we anticipated. We put a lot of extra effort into making our story/season finale that much more special, especially given that it contains the last recording we will ever get from Susan, our friend and flutist. Ryan McQuinn wrote the song "Fond Farewells", Steven Melin contributed a bonus piano outro and I also snuck a "secret medley" after the credits briefly showcasing just how much work went into the music from this series. (The equivalent of making a new band every 2 weeks while writing and recording a song)Speaking of the Boar Knight, Travis also recorded a bonus (previously unused) song in anticipation for a Boar Knight soundtrack release later this year, and built the checklist of To Do's to bring that album to life and passed the action items to the appropriate folks. It's a lot of small thing. We had an amazing 2 hour phone call with our buddies at Old Gods of Appalachia to catch up, gush about their tour, their RPG release, and our own future plans. We just wanted to slyly mention here how proud we are of our friends and the amazing things they accomplish.Travis had a perticularly fun call with a few sound designers working in Audio Drama to chat about hydrophones and recording underwater, after I got to test some equipment with National Geographic in Svalbard (to record Walruses underwater). Our newest teammate Alan (who some of you have spoken with) has been helping us crack the code of SEO, improve things on our podcast feeds, our discord, and here on Patreon overall. He also got our websites back up and running after an update knocked out a few features.Dayn (our mixing engineer) is now within 72 hours of finishing a month-long top secret assignment... Oh, what could it be?Travis otherwise has been editing the next episode of Dark Dice, transcripts of the next one, and Kaitlin has been hard at work writing about a certain White Vault while creating visuals for our shows and their social media. We've also been on long walk with Eezo (pictured in the photo) almost every day. Basically whenever it wasn't too hot.We are now about to land, so we'll cut the list off here but we wish you a WONDERFUL weekend!-Travis & Kaitlin
