Here's the Cicada model. Sculpted by Aaron Harris. His second for the team I believe.
I think it came out great.

Also a render of the Cicada with a Locust was requested, but I thought I'd do a bit better and throw a bunch of bugs into one shot. There were a few more clan mechs with bug names too, but I decided to leave those out.

Good job on the Cicada ! My only nitpick would be the absence of antenna/aerial attachment points at the rear of the "dome"

Damn cicada, you got some sexy long legs. Also the variants are a welcome sight. Only 9/10 for the bug shot though, no grashopper!

As much as I know it will likely never happen, by God do I wish these models were available for use as "minis" in TableTop Simulator, even if I had to pay for them, they are just so gorgeous and well crafted.

Yeah that's something you can be certain you'll never see until CGL decides to sell mini STL's, which likely wont be until plastic is truly dying. Considering BT only just got the memo that people play with plastic and not metal, it'll be a while haha.

Yeah, I figured as much, ah well. At least I can show the guys stateside I'm introducing to the game the new art as it releases in official product and try to direct them to places they can pick up the boxes and force packs.

That’s not very nice, I ran a hornet for about a year in one of our Mechwarrior RPG and it did pretty good until our DM put us up against the clans 😀

Burning Chrome

Very nice update and the 3-D sculpt is excellent. This looks sleek and deadly with a hint of WotW Tripod menace/vibe to it somehow. Cicadas...one of the worst (and for some mechwarriors -last) mechs to underestimate. As others have suggested in the past, I think it would be awesome if a "top-down" view of these could be made as well so the MegaMek team can get the icons right. Some of the new icons (and past) are, well...let's say "off".

The cicada looks great! I appreciate that it is clearly updated, but keeps some of the pretty subtle contours of the original torso.

The people in my circle that I've talked to don't like this redesign as much as the MWO one. It's too "squished" and needs to be fattened up quite a bit to look like the "bug" that it's supposed to be. Hopefully still time to improve on it before it gets cemented as a mini.

I can say that among it's tonnage peers, it has quite a chunky torso. I wanted the torso to look even more bug, kinda like the CCG art, but I couldn't get that to pass.

Good to hear, thanks. It's cool that you lobbied for the bug look, because I really like the CCG art too. And like you, the Cicada was one of my fav rides in MWO. I put a gauss rifle in the thing and turned it into a hunter/killer torpedo boat, back when gauss was overpowered and the Cicada was still one of the faster mechs around.

I liked the cicada's weird legs....oh well, looks nice.

I love this Cicada way more than the MWO Cicada. Even if it looks slightly chunkier it just means it's squatter and not as tall. I really like the angles on the torso, especially under the chin and such. It looks like a proper medium competitor to the Locust.
