Time for another flavor. A vehicle you may deploy yourself, but definitely a vehicle your OpFor is gonna have. Mid weight vehicle spam!

Under sketch by Dale Eadeh, finished off by me. I like the fast, some what aerodynamic look on this one, along with the high ground clearance.

Too cool! Still has the classic look, but updated. You guys are knocking these out of the park!!!

I like the turret; the driver’s cockpit has a little too much glass for my taste.

Guaranteed campaign opfor "good enough" tanks, now coming to plastic. Hoping their mini me, the Scorpion, comes along for the ride!

Matthew Shaw

One man's spam is another man's efficient use of points/resources. This is what modern military theorists refer to as distributed lethality. Really cool design. Can't wait to see the model and the rest of your work.

Opforce vehicle spam! This is the way.

Dirk Assmann

The looks are stunning and light years sleeker and more techy than the old designs. But I have a criticism. The lack of a fender over the rear of the chain, where the primary drive of the chain resides after the chain drive is installed, is highly risky. Firstly, increased visibility when driving fast by throwing high sprays of dirt upwards and forwards. Secondly, severe damage to all surfaces from the effects of this dirt. Third, visibility from inside the tank is compromised by the spray of debris to the rear and sides, severely limiting the effectiveness of a rotating turret. Fourth, strong impairment of the efficiency of the drive, especially when the primary transmission is at the rear. And fifth, without primary gear protection, it's too easy to target and hit. All of this could be avoided with a 5mm thick rubber fender over this section of chain. I would do it, it would greatly reduce maintenance, visibility and reliability issues and increase the tank's combat value. Perhaps you could consider this. To everyone reading this comment, Yes Battletech is SciFi, it doesn't reflect reality and it doesn't claim to be common practice today. It is my personal opinion and based on very specific knowledge from my work. I've just referred to one thing that bothers me that would change the design minimally.

Nice ! Very happy that you kept the overall classic "silhouette"

KaiserDunk

Just wondering, but was the original Vedette artwork based on the tank from the 80s arcade game “BattleZone”?

Was gonna say the same thing, seemed like a lot of glass on the crew cabin, but then remembered the Battlemaster, among others. :)

I enjoy realistic tanks, but for BT we need to break from that or we run out of silhouette variety on our hulls. Variation in the turret is not enough in the long term. You're right in that it'd throw a lot of mud in real life, but we don't need to worry about that for scifi. Other things like mechanical issues are a non issue. Many BT tanks are extremely unlikely to be running only one drive wheel. They'll be running multiple electric or hydraulic drive wheels. Very few drive shafts, not to mention all the tanks running on fusion engines don't even have a rotation based energy source like and ICE would. But end of the day, yeah, looks come before function in BT. The setting "feels" realistic for a scifi setting, but is very far from it. We're only missing anti-gravity to be full on starwars.

A bit "window-heavy" for my taste, but I suppose I can just paint them as panels. I dig the basic form.

Peter Campi

Nice to see BT's tanks get some remake love too.
