Posting the Sagittaire and Penetrator 3D renders feels like ages after I posted their sketches (well, it has been 4 months) but it's been such a flurry of work and extra content this year that the spread between sketches and renders isn't only due to my laziness anymore :D
I hope my pace of posting has been more satisfactory the last two months.

Anyway, here's the 3D sculpt of the Penetrator, done by Alan Blackwell.
This one took several rounds of pushing around proportions to get the right ratio of width, depth, and height. It's a wide mech either way, but without some crunching it gets ridiculous. I regret not making a few adjustments to crunch the width of the Longbow over the same issue. In general I've been putting extra time into taking a final look at a mechs proportions once the model is otherwise done, in case some of the spirit or intent of the design sketch has been lost along the way.
Overall though the transformation is great. Looking at this vs the original mini is a huge improvement.

Enjoy.

Ryan Voigt

Are we cleared to share the mood render?

Rant winters

IT no longer looks like a Wide load balanced on and dual wielding 2 sets of chopsticks. Great work from you both

Bruce Faries

I'd call that a win for sure.

James Bixby

At least it finally looks like it can actually walk now!

Kanrei13

I'm pretty sure the rule is if it has the url patreon.com/shimmeringsword under the BattleTech logo, it's ok to share. Correct me if I'm wrong Anthony.

Ryan Voigt

That was my understanding, but he has always explicitly said so in previous posts, and I wanted to make sure.

KaiserDunk

Definitely looks better than the TRO artwork.

Jeff Pappa

Believable legs and actuators! Looks great

John Kraemer

Why is there that one laser on each side out of alignment with the other two?

KaiserDunk

Does this design just have the ‘scowling mouth’ cockpit design, or is there a large pane right over the cockpit as well?

Ryan de Haas

Everyone is talking about how great the new legs are, and my favorite part is the new arms. Finally they look actually part of the mech and not like a pair of pool noodles.

ShimmeringSword

Because just as it bugs some people to see them out of alignment, it also bugs some people to see a single line going across the whole mech. It breaks up the main shapes a bit.

John Kraemer

Fair. Guess I'm just in the former camp...looking at them is like having an itch I can't scratch.

Robert Moore

So any chance we will see the Imp or Shogun anytime soon?
