Happy New Year! あけましておめでとうございます!

This is the first post of 2022 :)

Thank you very much for your support during the past year. I look forward to working with you again this year!

I put scanned data of the New Year illustration in this post to all patrons. Please enjoy it within personal use~! I hope you like it!

This year, I took 3 days off on the 3 Japanese national holidays called "三が日 San ga nichi". Every year I spend the New Year's holidays in a busy, but I was able to take a good rest this year. I slept all the time except for eating :D Thank you for giving me to take enough rest!

How was everyone's New Year?

My New Year's resolutions

I wrote out my New Year's resolutions in the first stream of 2022.

Draw more than 2021: I don't know exactly how many paintings I did last year, but I hope I can continue to draw while taking detailed breaks without hurting my arm.

I'd like to try to do a stream of pen drawings (preferably manga pages) once a week.

Do something for someone else: I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I should do. One thing I would like to do is to make a tutorial video. I'm not very good at explaining things in words, so I'd like to make it as easy to understand as possible just by watching it.

Study Languages harder!: I finally got to unit 4 of my Spanish course on Duolingo! It's very slow. I'd like to study a little faster this year.

Sleep 6+ hours: I checked my average sleep time last year on my smart watch and that was 4 hours, so I knew this was not good. I tend to wake up in the middle of the sleep, but I'll try to resist grabbing a pen there and start drawing, and try to sleep until morning without giving up.

My new stream equipment!

Thanks a lot for all your support in getting me a new camera lens! I can't remember how long my husband has been telling me that he wants to stream my paintings beautifully.

I was surprised to find a very long camera lens set up on my desk. I have to be careful not to bump my forehead XD My husband looked very happy when he actually saw the video in real time on the computer display monitor.

I used to have to turn on a lot of lights to stream in my room, which was a pain for my hyperesthesia. When I'm not streaming, I close my blackout curtains and live with one or two indirect lights only. But thanks to the performance of this new camera lens, it is now possible to stream even when the room is dark. I'm very impressed with it! I can stream in a more relaxing! Yay!

I can't wait to stream! :D :D :D!!!

Snoooooooooow

It's been cold since the end of last year, and today it's finally snowing in Tokyo! Right now!

Normally it snows a lot in February. At first it was just enough to keep no snow on the ground, but now it's piling up. It's going to get colder and colder at night. I wonder what it will be like tomorrow?

If we get enough snow to make a snowman, I want to make a sea otter snowman!

Sea otter

(This photo is from this tweet https://twitter.com/MontereyAq/status/1296509081482481664 .)

I've been obsessed with sea otters ever since I found their Twitch channel.

They are not otters! They are "sea" otters. In Japanese, they are a completely different animal with a completely different name. Otters are "カワウソ Kawauso (means River animal)", sea otters are "ラッコ Rakko (it's from Ainu language, north side of Japan)". But in English-speaking countries, they are often treated as the same thing, so I try to call them by their Japanese name, "Rakko" even when I use English.

If you've played Animal Crossing, you may be able to understand easily the difference between otters and sea otters. Pascal is the sea otter and Lottie is the otter.

I didn't know they were such cute animals! (They seem to have a very intense relationship between male and female...) There used to be a lot of sea otters in Japanese aquariums, but now there are only 4 sea otters in Japan, sadly :( And the remaining 4 sea otters are all very old.

The aquarium where the sea otters live is very far from where I live now. And the number of COVID infections has increased again. And it's winter! But this year, I definitely want to go to that aquarium and see my beloved Kira-chan and Mei-chan.

And I want to be able to draw sea otters better! That's one of my New Year's resolutions :D

Once again, thank you for your continued support this year.

Thank you to all the new supporters!

I hope you enjoy the posts here this year, too!
