Murder Most Foul- Once more... Thank you so very much for another fabulous reaction for Once Upon a Time, Timothee!! And to one of my absolute favorite episodes throughout this entire show too!! I absolutely love, love, love this episode so, so much!!! It's not just one of my favorite episodes within season six, but throughout all of this show!!! :) First... I absolutely love, love, love how beautifully this episode parallels, or perhaps contrasts so perfectly with season three's episode, titled... Good Form, as we see David and Killian team up to work together, while Killian fights for David to save his life. Just under very different circumstances. In Good Form, Killian works hard to literally save David when he is dying from dreamshade. While in this episode, Killian does so more figuratively as he fights more to save David's soul, by keeping him from making a terrible mistake that Killian knows would haunt David the rest of his life if he had actually killed King George. So, so beautiful! :) And there are also a few callbacks to some more episodes from the previous seasons as well. Murder Most Foul reminds us of the events shown throughout the backstory in season one's sixth episode, titled... The Shepherd. And it's also a callback to season four's second episode, titled... White Out, when David shares the story of how his father died to Anna as far as he believed it to be back then. I absolutely love how this episode brings back a storyline that is revealed to be so much more than we ever imagined. And a quite a powerful, yet heartbreaking story that I absolutely love! Now... I absolutely love, love, love the scene between Killian and Archie towards the beginning of this episode, as Killian comes to Archie seeking much needed advice!! We know from Killian's talk with Emma outside of their shed as he's covering for David and distracting Emma, that Killian is truly afraid of losing Emma, and that nearly having to watch her die when Gideon attacks her in the previous episode, titled... Tougher Than the Rest, really broke him. And so, I feel that Killian wants all the more to marry Emma. Perhaps more so now, than he wanted to beforehand. I believe that Killian would have eventually proposed to Emma, of course. However, her nearly dying certainly deepened his desire and need to marry the love of his life that much sooner. And sadly... David's cruelty towards him throughout this episode has only made him fear that David wants more for Emma. And that David still only sees him as nothing but a pirate. So, I love that Killian comes to see Archie, and I love Archie's advice to his friend. And Killian coming to see Archie alone shows just how much Killian truly has changed. Given that Killian and Archie don't have a great repour with one another, since Hook had kept Archie hostage for a few days back when Hook first arrived in Storybrooke with Cora. And I love that this moment between Killian and Archie now, allows for us to see that they've grown to be friends. Absolutely fabulous!! :) And then... I absolutely love, love, love everything about David's and Killian's story arc all throughout this fabulous episode!!! Which is very easily my absolute favorite storyline within this episode! And every scene and moment between two of my very favorite characters throughout this show, are my favorite scenes and moments throughout this episode! I love how this episode brings back David's fight to discover the truth about who really killed his father ever since the Evil Queen had first given him back his father's coin several episodes back in the second episode of this season, titled... A Bitter Draught! And I love getting to know all that's happened ever since David's father had made the deal with Rumplestiltskin to save both of their sons. I love how David finally discovers the truth about his father being a sober man in the end, who did actually fight for his family until the moment he dies. So beautiful! And I truly love, love, love Kilian's fight to try to prove to David he is worthy of Emma's love and her hand in marriage, and the pain he shows in his eyes and on his face all throughout this episode! Especially when he is asked by David to distract Emma such as he does, to help David steal the potion ingredients from her. So heartbreaking, and yet I love everything about Killian throughout this powerful and beautiful episode. I deeply love, love, love this storyline between Killian and David, and seeing David treat Killian such as he does throughout this episode. Because for me, it makes for such a powerful storyline, and it makes the ending between them inside the mental hospital that much more impactful and emotional. Even though I also hate how David makes Killian feel so low and like he's so unworthy of Emma's love practically at every turn throughout this episode. Because Killian most certainly doesn't deserve David's coldness and cruelty towards him at all. I do definitely understand why David acts as he does, seeing as he is under a great amount of stress and he's suffering from the fear of failing to get justice for his father by discovering the truth for him just like his father pleads with him to find. David just snaps at Killian, simply because Killian is trying to stop him from going down the road he starts down, not really thinking well enough for him to be able to see how much Killian is trying to help him. And unfortunately... David snaps at him by calling him the one name he knows will hurt Killian the most... Pirate. And by constantly reminding him of the past that Killian has been fighting so hard to leave behind. Sadly, Killian just wants David to love him like a father loves a son. Or at the very least... For David to accept him and to not see him as the ruthless pirate he used to be. So, so heartbreaking. Most of all... I love, love, love Killian's words to David in the end, when he saves David from killing King George, and seeing him comfort David when he completely breaks down. I love hearing Killian ask David if he would truly be able to look at his father if he were to actually kill the man he believed to be responsible for his father's death. This moment between Killian and David is absolutely so beautiful and heartbreaking. I love seeing Killian offer David comfort, in a way that we've never seen between these two men before. And I love seeing such emotion from David, whom we've seen has been breaking little by little for several episodes now. It was only a matter of time before he would crash. And I absolutely love, love, love that's it's Killian who is there for him to pull him up again!! :) Also... I truly love the moment David thanks Killian for saving him from his terrible mistake, and then apologizes for putting his love with Emma at risk by forcing him to go against her for him. I especially love the moment Killian risks asking David for Emma's hand in marriage, only for David to tease him and then happily assure him that he has his blessing. And then... We have one final revelation in the very ending, as we tragically learn that it had really been Hook who had killed David's father way back when, when he was still the villainous Captain Hook. It's so tragic, and you can absolutely see the deep torment Killian immediately feels within his eyes and on his face when he looks down upon the book pages August gives to him seconds before, and suddenly recognizes the face of the unknown stranger to him then, whom he now remembers he had killed way back then. So tragic, but such a fabulous twist that I love very much! And because of all that's happened throughout this episode, I very much love all that is to come for Killian in these upcoming episodes!! Most people often misread this revelation in the end, as they believe that Killian knew he had killed David's father the entire time. But this isn't true. The look on Killian's face upon seeing the picture of his father, reveals to us that he's shocked to discover it had been him all along. Because when Hook killed David's father, he had killed a complete stranger. And Killian didn't know what David's father looked like the whole time he was helping David throughout this episode. He wouldn't have any way of knowing who the man he had killed then was. So, no... Killian wasn't trying to protect himself from David's wrath this whole episode by putting the blame on King George. He really didn't know he had killed David's father, until he sees the picture from the pages that August's gives to him to give to David. I hope this explanation helps. The whole backstory with David's father and mother giving up one of their sons in order to save both of their lives upon David and James falling ill, is heartbreaking. But I do believe they made the right choice. The only possible choice they could have made. Because had they refused Rumplestiltskin's deal, then both of their children would have died. And I believe that both Ruth and the father would have felt guilt far worse than they already do from giving up one of their sons to Rumple, and turning him over to King George. As for whether or not anyone would make the same choice that David's father and mother had made when faced with losing both sons to illness, or just one to King James in their deal with Rumple... As difficult and tragic as their decision to give James up is, I honestly feel that anyone would make the very same decision. It would break me, but I think I would make the same decision too. To lose one son in such a way would be heartbreaking, yes. However, to lose both sons to illness if you were to refuse such a deal, when given the chance to save their lives... unbearable and devastating. And of course, David's parents do both deeply regret making this deal with Rumple. Finally, in regards to Regina's and Wish Robin's storyline... I really enjoy everything between them too. From Regina and Robin sharing a kiss, only for Regina to feel nothing... As sad as this moment is, to Robin seeking to kill the Sheriff of Nottingham until Regina's stops him, and to finally seeing that Robin is now up to something more nefarious than we ever thought was possible from him upon him stealing a box of magic from Regina's vault for unknown reasons. Not good, but a fantastic storyline overall. And I love the two scenes between Regina and Snow within this episode as well, as these two women share their concerns with this new version of Robin Hood coming here to Storybrooke. Scenes between Regina and Snow are always beautiful. And I love how Regina describes her kiss with Wish Robin to be like she was kissing a photograph, which is quite a brilliant way of explaining it. Because Wish Robin is only an image of the man she truly loved. Next... I also really love seeing August again, and seeing him involved with helping David learn more about what happened to his father. I also love seeing Pleasure Island that we all know from Pinocchio's fairy tale, and seeing Pinocchio as a puppet, who helps David's father find James. It is fabulous seeing a new world that is Pleasure Island. A very terrifying place. And lastly, in regards to Zelena, and her moment with Regina as she becomes angry with her... Robin really doesn't have any claim to the original Robin's daughter. I do understand Zelena's fear that he might try to claim her for himself and take her away, because she hasn't even met Wish Robin yet, and she doesn't really know how much of Robin is really in him. I just wish that she wouldn't have immediately come to yell at Regina again. Because it certainly doesn't help their troubles between them right now. Right now, and ever since the Underworld arc in season five... Zelena for me, is more annoying than anything else. I absolutely love Zelena overall, especially as a villainess. Because I absolutely love her in season three's Wicked Witch arc. And I love seeing Regina and Zelena as sisters when they're actually civil with one another, and they're on good terms. But right now... I am really not a fan of hers. I want so much more for Zelena!! I love her so much! Thank you again very much for another amazing reaction, Timothee!!! I am so happy that you really loved this episode a lot, and that you're excited for all that's to come for both Killian and David. Two characters that are a couple of my favorite characters!!! For me... This episode shows the phenomenal story writing this show can bring us!! I can't wait for you to continue on with more Once Upon a Time! You're wonderful, my dear friend!! :) Sincerely, Heidi
