I’m reading this one for the first time. Page 83 seems to hold the most overt hints as to what Pynchon’s trying to communicate: Far Eastern/Latin Am. universities, commitments chosen that bring down gov’ts, Bancroft Way, Secretaries James and Foster, Senator Joseph, etc.
