(Donald Trump voice) Dying Dave, The Last Man

I watched this movie so i could listen to the podcast. There were three of us who started the movie and by the end it was only me. The end sequence if whats his face tripping balls was pretty painful to watch. I went on reddit to hear some other opinions and got a bit more of an appreciation, and understanding of it. Can anyone tell me how barry lindon and a clockwork orange compare ? 2001 was very enjoyable in parts. Just too slow and kinda felt like it was going nowhere.

Rohmer Simpson

While almost all of Kubrick's films are adaptations, 2001 asks a lot from a first-time viewer in terms of possibly going hungry from the lack of traditional narrative pleasures. Both BARRY LYNDON and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE make a warmer welcome for, say, the avid reader, even as they derive from source novels that are worlds apart in almost every way. In short, I'd say go for both of them; in fact, it's hard to go wrong making a complete survey of Kubrick's movies. Comparing one with another, you'll probably find that, while both can reasonably be classed as satires, BARRY LYNDON will immerse the viewer in the rhythms of that era's music and the lush visual pleasures of that era's paintings. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE is governed, like all of Kubrick's films after LOLITA, by a preference for longer takes and deliberately paced scenes, but it's "literary" in a 1960s manner of speaking in the same way that BARRY LYNDON is "literary" in a 1750s manner of speaking. A word of warning: you should steel yourself for potentially triggering depictions of sexual assault. All of this is to say, nobody's soul has ever been put at risk for failing to fall in love with 2001 at first sight, and you ought to feel free to take up these other two films without fear that you will once more only be going around the same block. It's very possible that they'll try your patience, but it's also possible that they'll help train your patience as meditation trains the mind.
