Update! - another break + a new approach (Patreon)

TLDR: i want to pause the patreon billing for the next 2 months. during that time i will focus on revising my workflow, style and practice. during the new year i plan to switch my focus to commissions and keep this patreon page as an archive.

this one is a difficult update mainly because there are a lot of things i'd like to explain thoroughly but simulataneously i want to keep it simple and easy to remember for you. i'll try my best now to do both (praying hands emoji)

Breaks
multiple times now i needed looong breaks from art and patreon like the month long breaks back in december 2022 and july 2023. these days i'm desiring more of these breaks.

i have been cultivating this patreon page for basically 3 years now. i announced its launch at the start of december 2020, but already had practiced creating art in a "subscription-based manner" with my oct2020 drawings to make sure i am ready for the task. since then i made many changes and tried new things like creating more art, decreasing the prices, adding character polls, doing sketch requests (rip in peace to that tier), adding animations to my skillset and creating a good balance of exclusive and public art so everyone can be happy.

believe me when i say i am super grateful for having your financial support which has helped with covering insurance and groceries, but i am still mostly dependent on my mother's bank account and am unable to move out and live in a more comfortable and healthy place.

i say all that to make you understand why sometimes it is so difficult for me to have the motivation to spend yet another month creating nothing but art unable to afford improvements to my life, despite a growing followcount, raised art skills and upgraded tier rewards.

so that's one reason why i feel the need for another break.

My Art
as much as i love hatching, textures and layering lines, it also requires a lot of patience. over the past 2 years i feel like i've grown to be more impatient and also indecisive with lines. as a result my current style and workflow feel much more bothersome and torturous than ever.

so i wanna spend the next 2 months working on myself and my workflow/style to untie that knot and to make drawing more fun again. it might take more than 2 months and i might not be able to change my workflow drastically, but i gotta start somewhere.

that's the second reason why i wanna pause the patreon for a while.

Commissions
one of my new year resolutions was to do comms more frequently and reliably in 2023. i did one opening and worked on 13 comms, so yeah, i could have done better on that front.

since continuing the patreon seems less and less like a good plan, i want to try switching the focus on comms instead during next year. so that's some good news for some of you! as a result of that this patreon page will have to change though.

This Patreon Page
since i plan to try doing comms as a main source of income, maintaining this page like usual won't be managable, at least not with my current workflow/style.

so i'll start to advertise my patreon as some kind of archive which won't receive any promised updates in form of new illustrations or sketch pages anytime soon. that way people who want to support me for the work i've done so far can still do so. kind of like supporting a library for the books it's offering, but you can download and keep the books even after dropping your pledge.

Additional Notes
the discord server will stay of course and knowing myself i probably won't be able to stop me from sharing the occasional sketch or doodle in the WIP-channel. since i'm also continuing to work on my art, there might also be occasional finished art posts on the server. it's just that i don't plan on promising any art and won't make bulky posts here with 4-8 art pieces a month like i have so far.
