Very relatable

Gregory

Ah, they do leverage their own scent associations intentionally. By... torturing each other while sniffing Baxxids. Huh. We do know that Baxxids were once considerably more aggressive, fun question is whether this practice is a legacy from long ago or if there are currently other groups of Baxxids who have not, in fact, embraced pacifism.

NineTailSymbologist

I can't recall, has Yannit seen any of the bonewyrms since they came to the city? That "Old Enemy" piece looks like a mandible from them. I am worried....

Gregory

Yup, OOPS 264.

Vicroc4

Hmm... that can't be good.

Jay The Red

Interesting that this threat response is something that has to be taught instead of being instinctual, makes me think that either they don't interact often or aren't natural enemies (whatever that implies)

Vet

Worms would be an enemy to insects. Yannit fears are past conditioning.

Crushogre

I'm guessing that there's never been any reason for them to stop thinking of Baxxids as a threat.

ArcadeDragon

"Oh wow, that's crazy man," Lopin said, not really listening because he was planning 10 different escape routes.

KaitheMagicDragon

Oh shit that’s what’s making them lose it isn’t it? All the Baxxids in the city are setting her off.

Simon Signal

There are some who still hunt

John C Butler

Stands to reason that the Val Salia Baxxid aren't the only ones.

John C Butler

Well, shit. She's been conditioned to be terrified of Baxxid.

Russet

She's gonna get ping ponged by Kalkgur like Vanilla Ice fighting Polnareff.

GreyHooves

Wonder if this has anything to do with HWKWHD 🤔

Little Napoleon

How's this coloring technique do for your workflow? :D

Finvaara

Old Enemy looks very much like a Baxxid skull with possibly some mushrooms growing off the bottom of it. The orange illustration of the scent coming from it is very much what covers Yannit's vision now. This is VERY good storytelling, not too loud, not too quiet.

valsalia

like the top layer of an uneaten soup

valsalia

It's really weird! Really different than my usual sketch, then ink-overlay style. The "inking" takes less time, but I gotta think and plan a bit more to get it right, ya know?

valsalia

Naw he's just a guy who lays around, knowing things

valsalia

It might just be the pong type

valsalia

Pavlovian conditioning works very well!

valsalia

One ingredient in a soup of madness

valsalia

Worms and insects have always been at war

valsalia

It's been a while since a horde of baxxid raided their mountains. They don't know why, but aren't taking chances.

valsalia

It MIGHT be!! Who can tell!!

valsalia

She's been keeping her distance.

valsalia

This is one of those cases where I really wish I could reply without spoiling stuff >:V

valsalia

We've all gone on a bit of the ol' smell-frenzy

John C Butler

I kinda like the idea that there's something that they call a "deer," but it's some sort of spider looking thing.

GreyHooves

Especially things what he done did
