Reposting since they're heading to the Enclave: According to Guide 2, the birth rate of yinglet females is 1 per 5-7 males. Vistlet's enclave had 6 mature females- not all one generation, but representing all ages of the enclave: Vislet, Zally, Pekket, Lippy, Feena, and the exiled female. (Zally's mother), which gives 30-42 adult males in the enclave, minus any exiles. We've probably seen most of them, during the "Patriarchs doing their day jobs" scenes, even if they wernt all named.

The ratio of the val salian enclave is likely significantly more skewed than yinglet society as a whole. The central enclaves remove and add females as a way to control the influence of individual enclaves, and vizlet says on page 36 of the prologue: "we have so few, as ze rural enclaves tend to hoard us all away". I think the val salian enclave might be running on basically the minimum amount.
