Good question. Her appearance would raise questions... what, like, "Why does she have ten claw stalks and the rest of you have only four?" That doesn't seem so terrible. Maybe the questions they're afraid of are more along the lines of, "Do you guys GROW more of those things when you get older? Or do you have some castes that labor underground we're not aware of?"

From what I have read, Subsonic is the correct term to use for this world. This is not Earth, so using terms we are familiar with will not always be correct. Science here and there are not equal.

subsonic = slower than sound. While maybe thats possible in scav world (and scav science would certainly find a way) thats not whats happening here. The implication is that humans cant hear the sound they make. Even if it was a sound slower than sound (which sounds like something Shegoroath would do) humans would hear it. If its inaudible to humans, using subsonic could obscure that fact.

It took me a while, but I eventually realized something about the face covering of the second and the positioning of the last panel has led me to read them on subsequent viewings as Baxxid and Butthead.

At first I thought the weird lady insulting them was giggling eerily at the insult she'd delivered... and the two conversants were trembling at it. But then I realized that it's -them- giggling at her because of their juvenile teasing.

I clicked on the link to the last time we saw these two and from there I saw a reference to the Tumblr strip Beatriz Overseer and I read it all and it was very intriguing, especially the title character, and then it was abandoned suddenly in 2017! And I felt betrayed by time.
