The tavern "The Lesson of Alcohol" was named out of spite and contempt. One of the several forces that was able to capture and hold the city of Val Salia for any length of time, belonged to a particularly powerful noble house from Akalos. The occupation lasted just long enough for the invading force to begin construction of its own buildings, which included a high-walled mustering yard, and a smaller attached wooden building.

The stonework structure was meant to be something of a gatehouse, once the city had been ringed with a similarly tall and solid stonework wall, but this was never constructed, as House Ivenmoth (aided by the vast majority of the city's permanent populace) was inevitably able to drive off the invading force soon thereafter.

The noble held to the Akalosian custom of giving structures poetic, flourishing names, and the meeting house that was built to accommodate the noble and his high-ranking companions during the early stages of the siege was given the name "The Lesson of Might," as it was intended to be the first of many new structures that would spring up around the city under his leadership. The name "lesson of might" was intended to be the first structure to be named as a lesson of some sort. The first one, by which they were conquered, was might.  Future installments were intended to be things such as "The Lesson of Obedience," intended to be the headquarters for the city's new lawmaking force, and "The Lesson of Knowledge," a grand library and study hall. When the revolt happened (sparked by a mass poisoning of the invading forces garrisoned within the city), the structure was claimed by the locals, and was repurposed into a bar, and given its new name to spite its original intention and the man who built it.From its walls hangs a repository of the banners and armaments of all the forces that have tried and failed to take and hold the city over the years, a monument to the endurance of the city and its people in the face of those who would see them conquered. The entryway used to feature the polished, grinning skeleton of the patriarch of the Akalosian noble house, with a beer mug attached to his skeletal hand, welcoming the customers inwards in a rather undignified pose, but his remains were eventually relinquished to his descendants in his homeland as part of a rather lucrative trade deal House Ivenmoth struck with Akalos many years later. While far from the largest tavern in the city, it is cherished by the locals, and never lacks for patrons.

Four Fanged Ferret

Seeing a new page of this comic makes my whole damn day, its just such a fascinating world youve built

ArcadeDragon

Ivenmoth is where all the fun happens. Nekkid cute boi ying parties. Hey Lopin, Kass really misses hers, make sure to show yours off more often to make her feel better.

Finvaara

I didn't expect these three plots to collide in this way, didn't see it coming at all, but it was a delightful crash and I'm so happy about it. Excellent work once again!

Thorin N. Tatge

Now, while I'm not a bargoer, I like the idea of themed bars... and that is one of the best ideas for a themed bar I've seen! I especially like having the banners and armaments of those who failed to hold the city on display. Talk about a source of incidental pride! Excellent background-writing. :D I wonder if this philosophical opportunist is going to be a regular character.

Super Shanko

This guy will be fun to have around.

Waffliesinyoface

I cant help but feel as though Craylor will become a regular of this establishment. Just a hunch. xD

Vet

He’s good at observation and apparently not rattled by the experience. Yet.😏

Max Last

Kass, you don't have to stare at wieners to think about them. Something you (don't) want to tell us?

Ryuvain

That reaction was painful and sad to see. Ouch. I'd take his place if I could. :/

Matthew Vandiver

Excellent timing, especially since I'm wearing a dress much like Lopin's. Y'know, for funsies. Another great page!

Zhe Missing Drake

Yeah, definitely an inopportune time for a P bone! But Viracroix has been trying hard to keep a lid on certain things. Will Craylor turn out to be a security leak? Or will all the "leaking" here, be from Lopin?

Jaime

Naked Lopin butt. Noice.

Scarletmenace

I would need to go to the restroom too after being in a dress for over a year

Ch'marr

Given Kass's gaze in panel nine, I'm guessing Mr Craylor is unexpectedly titillated.

valsalia

Well I'm super glad this story I'm telling is a highlight of your day! : D Hearing that something I've worked on has been able to brighten someone's day really feels nice. It gives me POWER

valsalia

Don't say that, he might believe it

valsalia

Yeahhhh stuff can't always come together like this, but when it can, I really try to make the most of it!

valsalia

It's like the zany wall decorations at a TGI Friday's, except instead of classic memorabilia it's the leavings of your fallen enemies

valsalia

That statement could apply to any of the characters on this page, in fact

valsalia

There is a noted correlation between working with the high-ranking officials of House Ivenmoth and an increased intake of alcohol

valsalia

He seen a lotta shit, just nothing of this particular sort of flavor

valsalia

(Kass wants his wiener back)

valsalia

...At a bar, drinking? I would, too! Especially if he's already paid

valsalia

Careful, those things are hard to pee in

valsalia

There's a certain school of thought that seeks to contain all leaks possible, and there's another that assumes leaks are inevitable and that one's effort should be spent managing their flow, like trimming a bonsai tree

valsalia

Sometimes you don't realize how weird your workplace is until you're the one who has to give a tour to the new guy

valsalia

[Insert the old quandary of whether or not fur counts as covering]

valsalia

Even if not, sometimes you just find yourself gazing in envy at something that someone else has that you want

Estragon

Good idea having a cold view. Ran's circle could appear mighty strange and confusing to an outsider. He was warned he would have to get used to things.

Ryuvain

Clever girl... Ha! works both ways here.

Wing Dancer

Preach. This is brilliant especially since we now actually have a new team member at our work and the past week we had a massive incident, with 24h around the clock shifts for the past 5 days. New guy got a real taste of the most intense things our job can offer xP

Jaime

Either way, I see this as an absolute win.

Jaime

But not to pee in.

Matthew Vandiver

It depends on what underwear you have on. Speaking of which, do they have flush toilets?

Jaime

Reminds me of when I started a new job right at the beginning of a two and a half month crunch period with everyone working seven days a week for the entire crunch period.

ComicTF

Looking through old pages, just wanted to say how good this page is. The timing on the gags is great, Lopin covering himself as he leaves is hilarious, and the dead-pan foil really helps sell it. The outsider reminding you that House Ivenmoth really is a strange place.
