Alternate timeline: Kass is exposed to That Thing, but it takes a while, happening over the course of a few weeks!

slow down, ya move too fast... ya gotta make the yinging last! ... anyway, neat to see how different this AU's Kass treats the whole experience. still very annoyed at being a yinglet, sure, but probably a lot happier to go out and about town without causing an *incident* immediately!

Wat

Now to request 4 more steps added between these. And then 4 more between those - and so on until Kass is a gradient with no end.

Notice Ran is not looking for a cure…just observing the change and loving every minute of it.

SitriAbyss

A really nice transition :)

Little Napoleon

Very cool Val, this turned out great! How would this have impacted his relationship with his friends and his superiors? What major things would have deviated from the story line as you've written it to this point?

ComicTF

Kass seems much more composed in these alternate timelines. Must mean that the timeline that the main story takes place in is actually the worst timeline. Also, I gotta love some love for that slow burn.

RamblerJ

Huh. You know, Kass's "Week 2 Phase" isn't that different from how he/she looked at the beginning of the comic.

John C Butler

I realized that was just Valsalia settling onto character design, but my head canon is that Kass didn't completely finish transforming for a couple of days.

Tirga

I am a little curious what made you decide on the original being so fast and not this slow transformation or somewhere in between. Just wanting to get to the after effects of the change? (Admittedly one of my favorite parts. I like the psychological aspects of it.)

Truttle Bear

I love slow transformations. :3

valsalia

Yeahhh both ways have their upsides and downsides!

valsalia

Sometimes I don't know I should draw something for someone I don't know who doesn't know they wanted something

valsalia

What's the point of curing something when it stops something fun from happening!

valsalia

Gave Kass a little more time to get used to it than the canon method!

valsalia

Kass would've shown up at the medical area very early on, and treated as a source of interest by them and Ran's department, rather than a full/actual yinglet. So, no sudden major events that resulted in being presented to Vizlet ASAP, and no promotion into an experimental diplomatic position!

valsalia

Yeahhh Kass had a lot longer to get used to this here, and was less of a "OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED, I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS" situation, and more of "Come on just be DONE already, I don't care if it's a yinglet I just don't want to be an awkward half-something anymore"

valsalia

The snouts were a bit shorter back then!

valsalia

That, and the story's setup really did require a couple days of fast-paced rollercoaster events before settling!

Silver the Snep

"I *could* do something about this, but I really just wanna see how it plays out. Preferably with some popcorn"

Flora P-Stylianides

Whether you should draw it or not, I'm glad you did. Thank you

RamblerJ

@[John C Butler] Same.

That makes me wonder what status this alternate Kass would have. She's still a female Yinglet. But there wouldn't be any chance of Vislet passing her off as a "Yinglet raised by humans" like in the prime story, which would throw a monkey into the wrench as far as using Kass for knowledge. Presumably, she'd still be attached to Ran's research division, but probably without being an officer or diplomat. It would be interesting to see a short comic of how the story plays out differently.
