Super Shanko

Viz is making it very clear she's still quite a young foxy matriarch despite her wisdom.

Fox Starwing

So there IS an advantage to the yingbrain. Also, I get the feeling that when Kass finally deals with "zhat OZHER issue." Things are gonna real interesting. The mental gymnastics are going to be amazing to see I am sure.

Fox Starwing

Somezhing somezhing Lippy's mom has got it going on.

Enrique Cruz

Is this about the reduced lifespan of a yinglet?

MysteryCryptid

Amazing work as always! I really like how you have been using ears to convey emotions too! Keep up the good work!

John C Butler

If at least one AU comic is accurate, Kass is 25. According to the field Guide, Yinglets really start showing their age in their late teens/early twenties. There's a pretty good chance Kass is a decade older than Vislet.

John C Butler

Woo Hoo! Four story comics in a month! Loving this discussion. Still waiting for the other foot to drop when Vizlet realizes Kass is actually older than our Matriarch. It's also interesting that Kass is maintaining more human thought patterns in a Yinglet brain, apparently through sheer force of will.

Super Shanko

Based on the look of human Viz, I've always seen her at an age of late 20's, pushing 30 at most, so she's got a few extra years on Kass and his gaggle of misfits taller friends, but not too far off that she's a generation apart.

Super Shanko

Sounds like it. He's technically younger physically, but just as old as a human at the same time.

Russet

Dude's gotta put a rain check on the fluffy rat hugs, get one later.

Nulgar

I read this as Viz being the equivalent of an old crone, despite her looks.

Matthew Vandiver

Tis a good question, how old is Kass in yinglet years? How much time is left in that ol' lifespan? Was the limit of that thing's power just the transformation or have there been other effects? Perhaps Kass will retain a normal human life span even as a yinglet? Will kass become The World's Oldest Yinglet, Fraggle Rock-style? Also, dying to have yinglets interact with fraggles now.

Avi Brandier

The issue that's leapt to the forefront of my mind: Kattajak and Brakka clearly have psychological issues, which means they haven't been offered healing hugs from the Matriarch yet

Thorin N. Tatge

I seem to recall reading somewhere that yinglets only live twenty-five years... but that seems a little too young. Maybe that's just an average. Maybe the matriarch is twenty-five and considered an elder. It did occur to me recently that Kass might be older than her and pull it out as a zinger in a conversation like this.

Atamis

Is ze Kass worried about ze motherly feelings?

Silver the Snep

One of the field guide posts mentioned most yings don't get to be very old, both because they have a top lifespan of like 30 years and because they tend to get themselves killed somehow.

John C Butler

I think it's more like ze Kass is worried about ze adolescent female urges.

Flora P-Stylianides

XD Good thing Kass got so flexible as a yinglet, he needs it for all the mental gymnastics he's doin

Ngrasta

Maybe just a little cry?~

Finvaara

The concept of how aging as a yinglet might shorten his lifespan might not just be sure to the stress taking years off of his life

John C Butler

Yeah, if Yinglets dealt with their psychological trauma that easily, there probably wouldn't be all those exiles.

Autumn Minnchilla

I really like the balance you keep between having sympathy for Kassen’s pain and trauma, and the *gentle reminders* that Kass is still quite a bit prejudiced on matters of species and gender. And *maybe* he should keep reflecting on that karma. It’s hard to get someone to feel both of those things for a character so fully at the same time but you do it incredibly well. Also that facial angle in panel 6 is 10/10

ComicTF

Hey Kass, y'ever think about how your lifespan must be significantly shorter now? Not only did you lose your humanity but years if not decades of your life have been stolen from you. Kass?

RamblerJ

*sigh* Okay, I have to ask: Is "Vizlet x Kassen" on the drawing list?

valsalia

No she is not a fox she is a yinglet, that is silly

valsalia

Yinglets don't use the mental gymnastics, they just run right across the gym floor to the other side, because why complicate things

valsalia

He's now the yinglet equivalent of the 1000 year old vampire loli

valsalia

Yeah those things are always movin'!

valsalia

Takes a bit of time to unlearn a quarter of a human lifespan's worth of habits!

valsalia

Kass can easily extort them from Lopin in an emergency situation

valsalia

Nobody knows!! Yet, at least. And isn't there a Fraggle reboot happening?

valsalia

Their psychological issues is that they are secretly addicted to hugs

valsalia

It can vary a bit, but yeah 25-ish tends to be late middle age for 'em

valsalia

Kass is worried about her plummeting investment in NFTs

valsalia

Always stretch before a workout

valsalia

Exactly 1/4th of a tear is allowed

valsalia

But I heard stress is good for you!

valsalia

I'm glad you're picking up on that! People tend to be pretty multifaceted like that, and it's really important to me for these characters to think and behave realistically according to their personalities and perspectives.

valsalia

Quick, think about it REAL HARD, don't stop until you've mulled it over as much as absolutely possible

valsalia

People keep wanting to see that lately for some totally weird reason!!

Matthew Vandiver

Actually, it's a Fraggle Rock sequel and it already has one season on AppleTV with another coming.

Fox Starwing

We could all take some lessons from them. We all do too much mental gymnasticizing.

Impamy

Let's be real, Vizlet is best mommy
