Tonight, I'm speaking about the process of working with Wizards of the Coast to produce my video on Duskmourn — the misconceptions of sponsorships, the power of concept art, the common criticisms of the set, and the cosmic coincidences surrounding it.

Great chat Sam, the part where you talk about how fast we move past sets resonated especially. Besides some of the more obnoxiously on-the-nose references we get, the care and attention to worldbuilding is evident and it almost seems wasteful that the WotC release schedule doesn’t allow each set to breathe a little and let us absorb it fully. I wish we still experienced set blocks, I entered Magic right after the last Ravnica block in ‘18/‘19 and it seemed like such a great way to introduce or continue developing a plane. Hopefully they go back to doing that. On another note, I was so thrilled to meet you at MC Vegas last year, I got a pic with you and I’m really hoping I catch you again to swap stories. Cheers :)

Great as always, Sam. MTG sets should get DVD style bonus features. I don't just mean marketing materials (although they're important too!), I want concept art, abandoned cards, interviews, I want meetings recorded between the design team (with their consent, of course) where ideas are thrown around. The film industry used to understand that people have an investment and curiosity about how their art is made. More importantly, I think it would help people disconnect themselves from the idea that these are 'products' and start to see these sets as material culture, as people's dreams come alive, as hundreds of hours of human work.

Thank you for what you do and the art you highlight and create. You help me appreciate things that may not be as clear and concise to me on first glance. Just know that your effort and work is appreciate, and genuinely makes my day better when I see one of your vids. Also since I haven't commented before, excellent taste in music in general. I knew you were a real one when you started talking about coheed lol

I really loved this episode, Sam. If you have any suggestions on essays on horror fiction, I'd gladly take them. I hope you're settling in to house well and enjoying married life.

The title of this episode fills me with a crushingly deep meloncholy. Normally I would tune it out, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to chewing on why. Thanks.
