Thanks for reacting to "Borat". I'm surprised that Sacha Baron Cohen was able to complete his film without incurring mob violence. I suggested this movie to a co-worker but warned him that his girlfriend might be offended. He rented "Borat" and was watching it when his girlfriend came home from work. She heard him laughing and asked him what he was watching. It happened to be THE hotel scene. She hollered at him to, "TURN THAT OFF!!!" lol. He never got to finish the movie.

Pamela knew but her crew didn't. Luenell was played by a comedian and apparently was the only other person that was in on it. Two of the college drunks sued and lost their case since they signed waivers. The horse falling during the anthem was not scripted.

Except for Borat, Azamat, Luenell and Pamela none of the other characters were actors. In most cases none of them were given any warning in what they were taking part in except for being asked to sign release forms agreeing not to take legal action against the film producers. If you enjoyed this yall might want to check out episodes of Da Ali G show. It had the 3 characters that were all eventually spun off into their own feature movies. And they all have the same bit, in that they interview people (politicians, everyday people)but each persona is different. Ali G is like a hip hop interviewer, of course Borat, and Bruno who is very gay. The series is funny and so are these movies. There is also a sequel to this Borat 2 Subsequent Moviefilm and 2 Amazon specials Borat: VHS of Material Deemed "Sub-Acceptible" By Kazakhstan Ministry of Censorship wich is an hour and a series of shorts Borats American Lockdown

Oh lord this is gonna be wild 😂😂. I'll never forget seeing this 20 years ago for the first time. Obviously, I knew the character going in, as he was already famous on UK TV, along with Sacha's other character 'Ali G, but the movie version was so much more extreme 😂. Can't wait to watch along and laugh after work today 👍

That was a fun reaction, I was worried about how it's aged but I think it's still funny. It's kind of brilliant how Sasha Baron Cohen, who is Jewish btw, would say something racist and then actually racist people would lower their guard and comfortably reveal themselves. I wonder if you guys have ever watched Philomena Cunk, I think she's hilarious, to me it's funny the way people outside of American culture see things that are so ready to be made fun of that we just kind of take for granted, but are weird. Also, you might know by now but at least one of the racist frat boys tried to sue, for being shown saying things that they did in fact say lol, I don't remember if they were successful. Oh yeah and I thought the sequel was great too.

Is there a reason why you post the Coming Soon post about 20 seconds before everything mentioned in the Coming Soon post?.. Surely it would make more sense to do the Coming Soon post on Monday, a video on Wednesday, another one on Friday and the final on Sunday, with the Coming Soon thing repeating next Monday.. Just as an example..

Just as an addendum, I looked up about lawsuits in relation to this movie. There were 6. The Etiquette coach, the driving instructor, the fraternity brother, the guy that was running away from Borat trying to hug him, the people in that village scene in Borats home town and a singer for unlicensed use of her song. The singers suit was the only 1 successful, but she received much less than what she wanted. Also just wanted to say what a joy it is to watch you guys react to shows and movies. You have great chemistry and a genuine affection for each other that comes through. Ya'll have a great sense of humor and watching with yall is like watching with a couple of really cool funny friends. Thank you for all the work Ya'll do.

Ali G show aired on HBO in the US, you should check it out(don't think there are many episodes, and they are short) Ali G somehow was able to interview people like Trump:) Another character from Ali G got a movie as well - Bruno (2009) Cohen said he based Borat on someone he met in real life. He said he never washed the suit, so it smelled kind of rank when he popped up(all the interviews were framed as him being a professional journalist etc by the producers finding people to be in the show/movie. Cohen was kept hidden until the cameras started rolling so a lot of people were startled when he burst onto the scene looking and acting like that. One women wrote an article where she said she figured out it was an act so just played along with Borat (she didn't say or do anything racist or objectionable:)

It just depends on when they got the videos done. Sometimes a day, three days, a week goes by between the Coming Soon and the release of the videos. (Naturally, the ones I am the most anxious to see take the longest.)

Yeah, this movie was crazy. It's probably been almost 20 years since I've seen it. It's interesting how different everything was just 20 years ago. Definitely some people came off bad, but I thought what was really amazing was how nice and patient most people were, despite insane circumstances.
