Season 5 Finale: 4/20/2020 Season 6 Premiere: 4/18/2022 2 years is a long f---ing time. But Bob Odenkirk had a heart attack in July 2021 and that delayed production.

#chuckwasright I saw this pop up in the later seasons of Saul when it first aired and began to realize that the writers KNEW we would side with Jimmy in the beginning , despite the foresight of what he becomes. Chuck was an asshole. Being an asshole doesn’t mean you’re wrong.

Marcus Cato

It was SO long. I really do envy those people that can now watch it at their own pace.

dvmn

That wait was killing me. I watched Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul twice during that time.

Quickly looking at the Emmy years that Better Call Saul was nominated, the TV shows that dominated the awards those years were Succession, Euphoria, Squid Game, and Shōgun. Those shows had huge viewership numbers while Better Call Saul only had about 2-3 million viewers per episode. Breaking Bad averaged 6 million viewers during the back half of its final season.

After watching BCS, I looked up Tony Dalton to see what else he’s been in because of how much I loved his performance as Lalo. He is well known in Mexico having starred in several TV series there. Unfortunately hardly anything outside of the Spanish speaking world which is a shame because I think he could be an international star. He oozes charisma! He did star in a Mexican streaming series for HBO called Sr. Avila which he got a lot of accolades for. It was hard to find access to it within the U.S. but I managed to find some (but not all) of it on Amazon with subtitles. While he was good in it, I only managed to get through a couple of episodes because I found it too graphically violent. He plays a hitman, and the show does not hold back 😳. That being said, I’m holding out hope Hollywood casts him in some more good roles like he got in BCS in the years to come. That and putting him in other good Spanish language shows and making them more available internationally. I’d definitely like to see more of him!

In a way, Kim's transformation after standing up to Lalo was like Walt's after he killed Fring.

No good guys in Better Call Saul? Lyle takes offense to that! :D

Sam, I've heard you say before that you don't like to look at the episode titles before you watch. So, I'm not sure if you noticed the title of this final episode. It concludes a trilogy of similar titles that started in season 4. First, we had " Something Beautiful", then there was "Something Stupid", and for this season finale we had "Something Unforgivable". I like to think of these three titles as a summary of the path this show has taken Kim and Jimmy. First, it was all fun and games, nothing too serious to worry about, just a little love and trouble-making. They had so much positive potential. But, after so many stupid decisions, and outside influence, everyone has been put on a "bad choice road", and now so many separate paths have joined together to lead us to where we are right now. The point of no return. Welcome to season 6. As Sam Jackson would say: "Hold on to your butts." :)

I remember back to your reaction just last time. Episode 7 & 8. At some point in your wrap up, or during one of the episodes, Sam made some comment about "Dark Kim". I don't even remember what happened in the episode to cause that comment, but I remember laughing and thinking "Just wait until you see episode 10"

TGrimace

When is Nacho referenced in Breaking Bad? I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I just don't remember it.

Simon

When Walt & Jesse kidnap Saul. Saul thinks it's the cartel and mentions Lalo and Ignacio (Nacho).

TGrimace

Ohhhh. I remember him asking if they were sent by Lalo. I didn't remember him asking about Nacho. I guess if he say Ignacio, I might have missed that.....

AdrianF

I wonder if you looked up what else Lalo had been in before or after...

Marcus Cato

He was definitely right and definitely an asshole, especially in the sense of being a big part of Jimmy's development. The moral ambiguities of the show are what make it so fascinating to me.

Marcus Cato

It really feels like he should be far more famous. Hopefully we will see a lot mire of him.

Marcus Cato

It is pretty weird how overlooked BCS is, although I have heard really good things about all 4 of those other shows.

Mr. Chumpus

It's only sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows in the final season

PIG

Yeah the ambiguity is excellent. I think, like in BB, it can be argued both ways. I love shows like that.

Abel Salas Jr

Speaking of rooting for Jesse, have yall seen El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie? If not maybe yall should consider watching upon completion of Better Call Saul

Smooticus

Soooo many thoughts. I'll wait until we're close to the end before posting so I don't give away any spoilers. But I will say fasten your seat belts

TBR Schmitt

Insane gap between seasons, but I'm sure worth the wait! And especially for Bob's health! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL not the hashtag! We definitely appreciate the viewers that let us get there! Some of the comments were WILD at the start of this show! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I'm shocked by those actually! I've never seen Succession or Shogun so I won't speak on those, but I'm confused how Euphoria and Squid Game beat out BCS! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Such a bummer there isn't more of his work to check out here, but I guess we'll have to start learning Spanish! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I did not notice that!! I love this, thank you for pointing that out! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Right!? I had no idea, so naive haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We didn't remember but we did see comments like Simons! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Can't believe it's almost over, Michelle! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yes! We have seen El Camino! It's been SO long! I rewatched BB but didn't rewatch El Camino before our BCS journey! -Sam

PIG

"You know who really knew Jimmy? Chuck."

PIG

A sad reality of reaction fans lol Not sure why.

Here is my unprofessional transcription of that scene: When Walt & Jesse pull the hood off of Saul and Saul sees the grave he says: "It wasn't me, it was Ignacio, he's the one!" Then he starts shouting about being a "Friend of the Cartel" in Spanish. Jessee says: "Shut up! Speak English!" Saul: "Lalo didn't send you?" Jesse: "Who?!" Saul: "Oh, thank God."
