Comments

Chris

One of my favorites! The other two films in the "Frontier Trilogy" (Sicario, Hell Or High Water) are also top notch

Duncan

Ahh look at all that snow on the poster, must be a lovely feel good festive movie, perfect for this time of the season guys, thank you for the quick upload, will check this movie reaction out tomorrow.

Haven’t seen Hell or High Water but our editor, Lui, said it’s in his Top 10! -Sam

So this isn't "real life" then. You must still be in the Matrix.

Roy Wright

Wind River Sicario and Hell or High Water are all insanely good movies. Looking forward to watching this one with yall. Haven’t seen it in a bit and it is a tough watch at times but excellent movie.

Hell or high water In my top 10 as well. Excellent movie. Usually bounce between that one and another one in my Schmitthead recommendation each month

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the film. It's one of my personal favorites, right up there with Sicario. The performances are outstanding, and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great film.

Gary

I haven't watched your reaction yet but I can't imagine you didn't like this. It really is one of the few truly good films of the last decade or so along with Gone Girl which is truly exceptional , most people have never heard of Wind River. Great story if a very depressing one and the cast do a great job especially Jeremy, sadly this stuff happens to hundreds of native American girls every year. I recommend another great film from Australia called The Dry with Eric Bana. Also a few good films of Elizabeths is Ingrid goes west, the remake of Oldboy and martha marcy may marlene.

good pic

this is one of my all time favs. such good acting, where no dialogue is needed to show the character's raw emotion. And that flashback transition at the door of the trailer is one of the cleverest bits of filmmaking Ive ever seen!

This is a fantastic movie, I've watched it several times but I usually fast forward over the rape because I never want to see that part again. It's one of those movies that you might not want to rewatch because it hurts so much.

I was posted to a base in 2017 where there wasn't much to do apart from going to the movies. Me and the usual crowd went at least 1-2 times per week. Wind River had very little press before it released. The poster outside the lobby mentioned the Sicario connection, which was more than enough to convince me to roll the dice. I was absolutely floored. The final act of the film is a masterclass in building tension. The MMIWG issue is well-known in Canada, but this is one of the few Hollywood productions that have touched on it.

There was actually a sequel to Wind River made a couple years ago with the characters of Martin and his son Chip returning but no involvement from Taylor Sheridan. For whatever reason, its just been sitting on the shelf with still no planned release date.

EdmanXERO

Yep, I wasn't ready for this movie. That Jon Bernthal scene was brutal and tragic, though. I guarantee if he was in Punisher mode, NONE of them would've survived that night and he and Natalie would be in Ojai right now.

TBR Schmitt

Absolutely! I can see why this one isn't re-watched frequently. But an incredible film! -Sam

I hadn't heard of Wind River until it was recommended! Thank you for the recommendation! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Wow, I'm sure the reaction to seeing this in theaters was just silence. Definitely an incredible film! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh interesting!! I wonder if it'll ever be released! -Sam

Just looked it up and in October of this year, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) said that it was "about to come out soon." He also hinted that legal battles have held it up, and that he had seen the film and loved it, so it wasn't an issue with the quality of the movie.

Tyler Foster

The Dry is good. The key cast and crew also reunited for a sequel that came out this year, Force of Nature: The Dry 2. Not sure if the sequel was successful enough, but the movies are based on books, and there is a third and final book that they want to adapt.

Gary

It wasn't a good follow up to The Dry, very disappointing and predictable.

OMG, they finally watched it! I suggested this shortly after LA Confidential, and I'm so excited to see it make the viewing! Spotted the YT edit and IMMEDIATELY came here. Whew. This is a heavy one. Unforgettable.

Taylor Sheridan is a great writer/director. The TV series '1883' is one of the best series I've ever seen.

Another great snow-set film is The Grey, with Liam Neeson.
