Here we go, fam!... Shouts out to TBR and Samantha for continuing the series. We are here now fam, drop a comment to tell people what was your fave out of the series. And for those who have not seen this, you in for a wild ride.

I won't lie, I kind of felt that the little kid kind of ruined this one (thats just me). For me the first will always be the best... But, we here now, so LETS CHECK IT OUT! 🫡

Robert Durant

I looked up his info from IMDB, he only had 7 acting credits with The Mummy Returns being his first movie. How works in marketing and advertising.

Guston Zimasheen

In Daniel's mind: "The Mummy: The Awakening". jk

I dont think you need to watch 3. From what I heard, they are pretending like it never happened so this new movie will be a continuation of their story.

I'd say you can park this universe to the side for now and then watch the 4th one when it hopefully comes out soon. The Tom Cruise Mummy is not good either. It's the total opposite of these movies, no fun in it whatsoever. The first one was a remake of The Mummy from 1932, with the legendary Boris Karloff playing the mummy. If you ever want to dive into classic horror, that is one you should do.

I've only seen the third one once and it just wasn't the same without Rachel. Some good Rachel Weiss movies: Chain Reaction, The Fountain, Oz the Great and Powerful

Shehab Dawoud

I’ll add ‘About a Boy’ (2002) to that list.

TBR Schmitt

I understand! There's definitely been films that I feel like it takes me out of it depending on the actor! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

This seems to be the consensus on the third one! -Samj

TBR Schmitt

I had no idea there was an original Mummy until we got these comments! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Can't imagine a film without her! Thank you for the recommendations! -Sam

The original Mummy was part of the Universal Monsters series of films in the 1930s (Frankenstein, Dracula, etc).

I was surprised at how bad the Tom Cruise Mummy movie was, I expected it to be really great, but no.

im so glad that you enjoyed it Sam. I saw this in the theater and the pygmies jumping on their heads got big laughs in the theater. I enjoyed the Scorpion King. Its a good watch by itself. the Mummy with Tom Cruise isnt really related and they tried to do some other things that didnt get picked up. I enjoyed it for what it was. The acting is good and the actress who played Anocsunamoon was the Mummy in that one. Its a good action movie.

Matthew Maxon

I really enjoyed "Enemy at the Gates".

I wouldn't have even minded the bad Rock CGI if we had got a actual triple threat fight with Scorpion King human version vs. Rick vs. Imhotep. Like, they could've had Rick and Imhotep team up temporarily to take Rock out, THEN he comes back as CGI version. But ultimately, that was just plain bad. Haha. Solid sequel, though. I was heartbroken when Eve first died, but I was even more surprisingly sad when Imhotep was abandoned by Anck-Su-Samun. He LITERALLY did all this to bring her back; suffering through millenniums of hell and spiritual torture for what he thought was his soulmate, and she just left him to die. At that point, he just lost his will to go on. A tragic end and totally gave unexpected sympathy to an incredible villain. If you guys ever decide to watch the third movie, I'll be curious enough to see it. I've never seen it yet, but I know it's gotten bad reviews. But at least Jet Li is in it. Haha. Rock DOES come back in the Scorpion King spin-off film, so I hope you guys give that a try, as well.

There's even another remake of The Mummy from the 50's with Christopher Lee in the title role.

I saw this film in theatres even before I saw the first Mummy (I was too scared to watch what I thought was a horror movie). The showing was so packed that our group had to split into pairs to find seats. I remember thinking Ardeth was the coolest guy ever and loving the army of Anubis. I also closed my eyes during the scenes of Imhotep devouring the thugs to reconstitute himself lol. Even way back then as a kid I found the Scorpion King unconvincing. I wouldn't be surprised if Sam were right and the Rock wasn't available for shooting the climax. He was still a full time member of WWE at that point. The filmmakers bit more than they could chew with those VFX that's for sure. I think the film is fun and it's attempts at expanding the world set up in the first film are mostly successful, but the film is messier than the first, from its pacing to it's build up and its effects which are more ambitious and numerous but less carefully staged and implemented. Also I don't hate Alex, he had a couple of good lines but I don't much care for kid characters in story centred around adults. On the subject of the 3rd film, it isn't that great. I haven't seen it in years though. It inexplicably takes place in 1946 (which means that over 20 years have been covered within the films even though less than 10 had passed in real life with no efforts to age up Fraser and co.) Rachel Weisz didn't return and was replaced by Maria Bello which I don't mind in theory (I prefer a recast over Evy being absent for whatever reason) but Fraser and Bello simply don't have anywhere near as much chemistry as Fraser and Weisz. PS: Returns was clearly rushed in other ways, they messed up the date of the events of the first one. Rick finds the City of the Dead in the 1923 then meets Evy 3 years later. Returns takes place in 1933, with Alex saying he's 8 and Red referring to the death of the Americans has having taken place 9 years earlier.

Oh this is the best excuse to dig this out. So many bi friends who say this film was the first one where they went “Hmmn, everyone in this film is pretty, maybe I’m realising something”.

I will go to bat for The Brothers Bloom (2008), which is by Rian Johnson. Beyond the fact that she's great in the movie, Weisz being in the film may have been incredibly important to Johnson's career, as she ended up getting married to Daniel Craig. I don't know for sure but I imagine she must have been enthusiastic about Johnson if Craig asked her about him. And now we have Benoit Blanc.
