The dinner scene where they're discussing the moral implications is one of the greatest ever put to film.

God (1993) this hit. I left high school. Starting a new job later that september. So i went to the US with a friend. And we saw this film in Kansas City. Damn long time ago now. I had wavey hair then 😉😆

James

unable to play. it says video unavailable

TBR Schmitt

Sorry, James! Might need to give it a refresh, it looks okay on our end and isn’t blocked anywhere! -Sam

Dave Carmichael

Come on Sam, tell everyone just how bad Richard Attenborough's Scottish accent is.

Ellie Williams

I love Jurassic Park, but everytime I watch it I really hope the kids would die, but sadly they never do.

Paul Cox

Yeah, can't play it on Patreon on my pc where I'm logged into a vpn, but plays just fine on Patreon on my phone where I'm not logged into a vpn. It's that "bot" deterrent thing that happens sometimes on Patreon.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I first saw this when I was in summer school. It was an insanely cold summer school, and so when we got out it was great to be outside in the heat. I saw this after school one day in the theater and I'd go to the arcade and they had a Jurassic Park pinball machine that showed scenes from the movie on the marquee. It was the best thing ever, and I'd play it every day after school. Anyone here who knows music, if you play the order of sharps as they appear on the staff for E major, you get part of the Jurassic Park theme. It kinda blew my mind when I first discovered it. Music is crazy that way. Also I am extremely surprised that you haven't watched it on the channel; That you haven't gotten tons of requests for it, but you guys should watch KPop Demon Hunters. You've watched animated stuff on the channel before. I have always kinda seen it on Netflix but I never watched it until last month. It's extremely popular and a really good movie with amazing music. It was on the Netflix top 10 for over a year, and 4 of the songs from the movie were on the top 10 charts at the same time for weeks I think, one of them was #1 for a month.

I like Spielberg's sight gags: Muldoon driving with Ian and Ellie in the back with the T-rex closing down on them and Muldoon glancing at the side mirror that's embossed with, "OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR". When Dr. Grant and Tim are climbing down the tree to escape the vehicle 'chasing' after them and the tire sidewall reads, "BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A". EDIT: The scene when the lawyer Gennaro runs and hides in the bathroom might've been a callback to (I think) "Jaws" when one of the beachgoers runs to hide in the Porta-toilet when people are panicking and stampeding away from the water.

Haven’t seen it in several years and my daughter had never seen which I was not aware of. We just finished the watch along and she wants to watch 2 tomorrow.

So I saw this opening day in 1993 when I was in my mid-twenties and after I saw it, I went right back in line and bought another ticket and saw it again. First and last time I've ever done that.

I wonder if you recognize the actor who played John Hammond from having watched The Great Escape some time back? Richard Attenborough. He was much younger of course in The Great Escape, and clean-shaven. The leader of the 50.

Brian McGovern

Gee whiz. You guys react to Mission Impossible and it gets taken down. Other channels react to it and get invited to the premiere of the 2nd last movie and get to meet Tom Cruise and Chris Macquarrie. Go figure. Some people live a charmed existence, dont they.😄

Jurassic Park, The Lost World and Jurassic World are the best imo, in that order. The rest I can take or leave.

Speaking of "Jurassic Park" practical effects and CGI, on Disney+ I watched a 6-part series about Lucasfilm's ILM, called "Light & Magic". There was a segment that interviewed Phil Tippett who was promoting the use of the tried and true stop-motion technique to animate the various dinosaurs. Phil was known for hand-animating the Tauntaun on the ice planet of Hoth and for the mechanized Imperial Walkers. One of ILM's other innovators (whose name escapes me) had been working on CGI techniques and had gotten to the point where the movement and skin textures were finally acceptable. When Phil got a look at what CGI could do he realized that the writing was on the wall for stop-motion creature effects.

More fun 90s movies: Super Mario Bros, The Relic, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Cutthroat Island, Romeo & Juliet (1996), Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion, City of Angels, Godzilla (1998), Magnolia, Congo

Chris Bruneau

Dan & Sam, what a great pick!! I love this movie. I personally think the CGI stands up better than movies made even 10 years later, its just so well done. We saw it live in the theatre and the T-rex attacking the car with the kids inside was just terrifying, people were screaming in the theatre!

I was 10 years old when my dad (RIP) took me to Waikiki #3 Consolidated Theater to see this movie. I was in complete awe from start to finish and I never found the movie to be scary all that much (80s slashers desensitized me). When the sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, released to theaters in the summer of 1997, I found a book at my local Barnes & Noble entitled "The Science of Jurassic Park, or How To Make a Dinosaur" which explains on a high school level how cloning works and goes into how a cloned dinosaur might react in the modern world. I wish I still had that book. RIP Sam Neill...

Birdie Num Num

Spielberg only made Jurassic Park so he could make Schindler's List. Food for thought...

Future Boy

I rewatched this the day Sam Neill died. Now I just rewatched it again with your reaction. I loved it equally both times, just days apart. Not many films I could do that with! What an incredible piece of filmmaking.

This was the first movie I ever watched at a 'Drive in cinema' ,my parents took me and my friend ,it was also the first time I had ever seen Doritos crisps ,as they were selling them at the entrance 😊 they launched in the UK that year ,so it was a double celebration ,Jurassic Park and Doritos 😊 We ended up going back a week later to see it again. This will be a fun franchise reaction watch ,excited

OK, as I said when it sounded like you'd be doing the series, I wasn't a big fan of Fallen Kingdom, and I haven't seen the two after that (but haven't necessarily heard great things). However, I am *really* excited for a reaction to The Lost World. I can't quite tell from the video if Daniel has actually seen it before, but having been too young to see Jurassic Park in theaters, I saw the sequel with my dad and even though I recognize that it's not as good as the original, I still have a real fondness for it and think it has some great sequences (one involving a lab inside a trailer being an obvious standout). I've been closing gaps and rewatching movies in Spielberg's filmography all year, and both this and LW were two I hadn't made time for. I never had any problems with Jurassic Park, but I always rated it around the upper middle -- I prefer him at his most human (for example, my favorite Spielberg is easily The Sugarland Express). Rewatching this, I gained new appreciation for many of the little touches. Can't wait for the next one.

I was 10 when this came out. My parents tried to take us to see it, but the theater was sold out, so we saw the super mario brothers movie instead... which was... well... that's for another paragraph... But, we finally got to see Jurassic Park months later that summer and I literally sat on the edge of my seat the entire movie in amazement and terror. There was NOTHING like it back then. After it left the theater, you had to wait months for the video release. I remember an entire wall at blockbuster video being only Jurassic Park and it being completely rented out. It's first television debut was a huge deal as well. It's kind of difficult to convey how HUGE this move was.

The only Jurassic Park movie we needed. this movie came out the last day of my 7th grade year. we went straight from school to the movie theater. one of 4-5 movies i've seen where the film exceeded the massive amounts of hype it generated. i finally sat down to read the book. mind you, i'm not much of a reader at all. but i finished the entire thing in 1 sitting. it's really good and the movie changed more than enough to make the book feel like it's own fresh/unique experience

penoyer79

i thought the same thing as well.

There's a new dinosaur movie called The End of Oak Street. Looks better than any of the Jurassic Park sequels. Comes out August 14. From the director of It Follows.

Christian Rennie

Great watch-a-long! It has been a while since i've seen this one. I remember seeing this one on opening weekend. The line for the movie started at the door of the theater and went all the way to the back of the theater. It was so cool to see in the theater.

Florian Meier

Think i saw it 30 Times :) one of the best movies of all Time!! In 1993 everyone wants to see Jurassic Parc !! The dinosaur toys were everywhere ;)

Forrest

I had no hair then, because I was just born. lol Sorry to make you feel even older! lol

Dan Holmes

You guys should check out the Arnold sci fi movie The 6th Day for a cool actiony film that touches on the clone moral dilemmas even more. It's not a masterpiece but it is a lot of fun :)

Popcorn & Petty

I saw it in the theater and it was AMAZING! That's when surround sound was introduced in theaters and I can't begin to tell you how scary the sounds were. You could hear it from all around you. There were so many of us constantly looking around because we could hear something behind us. 😂
