Help us pick our next movie! There are two movies selected by me and two from Sam that we're interested in watching!

*NOTE: Daniel has seen Eastern Promises & A History of Violence (but he wants everyone to know he hasn't seen them since they came out lol)

Comments

TBR Schmitt

Also noting Daniel did NOT include his sure winner in this one! He's holding off on it now, apparently! -sam

UNC

Magnolia!!! Plz people!

Jason Dolan

Magnolia is somebody’s sure winner

TBR Schmitt

On Patreon, I think week after next?! It'll be up after spooky season! -sam

Tyler Foster

Please. Please let it be magnolia time

TBR Schmitt

Also, also, Daniel is sitting next to me like... WHY did you pick the two longest movies ever lol sorryyyyyyy -sam

johnsamseecass

I wouldn't mind any of these winning tbh, been meaning to bite the bullet on eastern promises, magnolia and meet joe black, a history of violence is a good movie too, fun bit of trivia, a history of violence is the last movie ever to get a vhs release.

Will Knox

A History of Violence and Magnolia are two of my favorites! A History of Violence is such an amazing film with stellar performances! William Hurt is only in the movie for roughly 10 minutes and he was nominated for an Academy Award for it...he is incredible! And Magnolia is just epic, in my opinion. P.T. Anderson is one of my favorite directors and Magnolia is his most under-appreciated film I think. It focuses more on characters rather than story and everyone is at the top of their game in it. 💖

Jeromy M

Good golly, both of the Viggo films please.

Florian Meier

I think Magnolia will pull it off this time :), Sam is this you're pick? :)

Keith Brown

Good luck to the winner. This poll and this month is just seems I'll be hoping November comes soon.

Santiago Hardy

🤞🐸Magnolia Honorable mention to Meet Joe Black.🖤

Paul Cox

Ok I was about to say...

Paul Cox

I love that the new running gag is how he hates long movies (even if it's for a practical reason).

Paul Cox

My personal favorite out of these is Meet Joe Black because there are at least 3 good cry scenes, and the score is luscious. It's so good, even Claire Forlani's wooden acting doesn't fuck it up.

Roy Wright

I would go A History of Violence over Magnolia but both good.

Paul Cox

I don't think there's any way Magnolia loses, though, and...fine. If you keep on this pace of watching every movie made in 1999, you'll eventually get to Dick.

Hunter DeRensis

I'm a simple man. I see PTA on a poll, I vote for it.

UNC

Yes more PTA!

Max Rinaldi

Bye bye "Killers of the Flower Moon".

Max Rinaldi

I checked on Wikipedia. I had no idea "Magnoglia" and "Meet Joe Black" were that long.

Vincent Hollow

Be nice to cross a few more Cronenbergs off my list, but I'm up for any if these.

Guston Zimasheen

Imagine if having an aversion to editing really long movies meant you avoided any movie with the words "long" (or related) in the title. So you avoid "The Longest Day" (1962), which to be fair is 3+ hours long. The exception being you did react to "The Long Kiss Goodnight" already. Others that you might like to avoid (or not) are: "Long Hot Summer" (1958) starring Paul Newman. "A Very Long Engagement" (2004) "The Long Riders (1980)" A Western and "The Long Walk" (2025). And ofc I'm joking about everything.

Future Boy

The poll is close, but there's no stress for me because I love both the frontrunners! But I'll vote for Magnolia because it's new to your both. Sorry to future Daniel possibly having to edit a 188 minute film, which is double the length of A History of Violence!)

Future Boy

You can always tell Sam's picks because they always win the polls!

Smooticus

Surprised Eastern Promises isn't getting more love

Smooticus

There's a few places in those movies where they feel even longer

DM DC

Oh, A History of Violence is soooo good!

Birdie Num Num

To me, this will always be the movie that made thousands of people buy a ticket opening weekend to just watch the Phantom Menace trailer and then walk out before the actual movie started(my buddy worked at at movie theater - he said he never saw that many walkouts before)

Birdie Num Num

May submit Satantango (7 hour film) to the spin wheel:)

Backlog Andy M.

Looks like Magnolia and History of violence are tied right now. My pick is Eastern Promises. I watched Magnolia once. Erm yep. Was not for me!

CherryPi

Eastern Promises, no question! Viggo Mortensen is magnificent!

CherryPi

Yes, clearly the best here! Joe Black, just no...

Florian Meier

Very Close race with History of Violence

penoyer79

Magnolia is so good. PTA's magnum opus imo Tom Cruise gives the performance of his life.

David Wilkins

Magnolia “better win”. 😶 You’ve been peppered with requests and monthly entries since God was a brunette.

James

Meet Joe black!!!!!

Michelle Cole

I love both movies as well. I think they should watch both!!!

Michelle Cole

I love both of the top 2 so you guys should REALLY watch both! What do you say?! 😉

Will Knox

🤣 longest...movies...ever! Lol

Birdie Num Num

FYI ties are a good thing - 2 reactions for the price of one! Vote and revote accordingly(like we did w Malcolm X and Ed Wood)

CC

Yay, looks like I can choose a different alternative for the wheel again instead of Magnolia :)

Garry L

Magnolia was my Spin Wheel choice for months and months. Hope it wins !

penoyer79

i love Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch Drunk Love... he lost me after that though.

penoyer79

Need to get Eraserhead on the channel now.

David Wilkins

Alright! I feel Magnolia-fied. 🎬
