Trying to make us smarter by watching older films - I see what you’re doing there! Nice try, Bicycle Thief!

jjkcharlie

Devil in a blue dress, is a good one.

Athos Count de la Fère

My first noir film I ever saw was "Laura" so that's my sentimental pick. Also picked "Touch of Evil" for the beautiful cinematography.

Will Knox

Double Indemnity, The Killing and High and Low are my picks! I actually finally just saw High and Low for the first time a few weeks ago...like everything Kurosawa has done, it was incredible!

Paul Cox

This might be the first Noir poll where the Hitchcock films won't act as ringers! Voted for several, but it's Double Indemnity's turn amirite

Brad P

Pretty much "All of the Above" with that list (I did manage to narrow it down to a few choices).

Florian Meier

For me clearly "The Third Man" !!! Love Vienna and Orson Welles

David Martin

Yes! "Out of the Past" gets some recognition. Jane Greer as the beautiful femme-fatale.

Paul Cox

low-key that's my second favorite on the list after Double Indemnity

David Martin

I'm a huge Stanwyck fan, one of the best actresses ever, but Jane Greer would seduce me way before Stanwyck in this one. On the other hand, MacMurray never had a chance to compare them. Great line by Mitchum after Greer pleads her innocence: "I don't care". And he means the exact opposite of Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive.

Santiago Hardy

"Laura"(1944) got my vote. The lead actress and actor are both beautiful. Unsolicited addition: "The Seventh Victim"(1943) Very film noir coded, with a devilish* twist. It's so GOOD.

A "Streetcar Named Desire" 1951

Eric F

I recently saw The Killing for the first time. Loved it. Early Kubrick- well done heist movie. Timothy Carey is great as always

Backlog Andy M.

The Killers and Touch Of Evil are standouts to me!

Keith Brown

Double Indemnity (director-Billy Wilder) / Out of the Past (king of noir actor-Robert Mitchum)/ Shadow of a Doubt (Hitchcock) / The Third Man (England voted it their best movie ever made) Laura (the actors and the music score) --Please have another noir poll again soon ! So many great movies will get missed if we can't vote again for the ones that didn't win this time !!

Keith Brown

Little chance of winning but fun trivia fact on "The Big Clock". It got an updated remake done as the (1987 thriller) "No Way Out" starring Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman.

Keith Brown

Please have a Decem-Voir Poll for the ones not picked this month !!

PIG

I’ve yet to see any of these. I should just take one rainy day and watch a bunch before TBR to get ready :)

Keith Brown

Then let's do a Jan-Noir-ary, Feb-noir-ary. Some one think of something for a noir name for March ! So many classic noir to vote on for each month of the year !!

Nick of Time

Me freaking out that The Maltese Falcon isn't on this list!! Oh they've already reacted to it. 🤣

Steve Mercier

You know what would've been a good flick for this poll? Brick. It wouldn't have won. But the movie is pure noir. Ah, well. The Third Man it is for me.

Birdie Num Num

I ask for the poll in the chat and voila, it appears! Thanks, Sam!

Paul Cox

Looking forward to the complaints on youtube about "old movies with men in rooms talking"

Birdie Num Num

ha! guessing that was posted on 12 Angry Men? Nothing in this poll can approach the room game of that film! And there are women in major roles in all of these.

Birdie Num Num

that was surprising. Guess Notorious and Shadow of a Doubt aren't that popular. Guess they have done all the big ones, no more ringers left.

Paul Cox

I'd love to see reactions to both of those, and especially Rope, but not at the expense of most of the rest of what's here.

darrell40

A good noir film the marathon man with Dustin hoffman...

Michael SCH

If Double Indemnity wins the poll, it will be the third Billy Wilder film TBR Schmitt will react to, after Stalag 17 and Sunset Boulevard. In a career full of masterpieces, it might be time for a Billy Wilder playlist! Ace in the Hole (1951), anyone?

Scott

"The Friends of Eddie Coyle" (1973). One of the great Robert Mitchum's best roles

Vincent Hollow

I haven't seen Brick in years, but every time you mention it, Im more and more inclined to rewatch it. I remember little bits here and there, but mostly its a blur.

Paul Cox

On their most recent Coming Soon YT post.

Birdie Num Num

lol. wonder what old man talking in rooms movies he is referring to.

Birdie Num Num

Love Elsa Lanchester in that. Saw it at the Film Noir Festival in Hollywood(been going for 20 years), it got a great reaction from the crowd. The novel "The Big Clock" is also great, with an interesting approach - each chapter is told from a different character's perspective.

Birdie Num Num

The Big Clock was also adapted into the French film Police Python 357, its worth a look.

David Riedel

Pretty choice choices, but "In a Lonely Place" is a little-seen gem. If you don't watch it for the channel, try to fit it into your personal lives. Top-notch Bogart.

David Wilkins

“This anti Third Man aggression cannot stand, man.”

KingofCoo1

Yea, all of these should be on your list. Just as a person who watches movies for a living. A lot better than piece of crap Jurrasic movies.
