Help pick the Drama movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Ford v Ferrari, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.

*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

Paul Cox

Ha! The year for Dead Poets Society is finally correct! Carpe diem!!!

Ron Moses

Man, Blow Out is so good.

Philip Davetas

I'd vote for BLOW OUT, but that's more of a thriller. So, I'll have to hit up TRAINSPOTTING. Probably the best film of the lot.

YoureMrLebowski

it is so disappointing to know within five minutes of the poll being posted that your film is not going to win. 😐

Jonathan Patrick

Legends of the Fall (my choice)*edit Meet Joe Black (recommend)

Will Zamora

Natural Born Killers ! Funny under a drama category

TBR Schmitt

Legends of the Fall is on this poll -Sam

Jonathan Patrick

I know lol I posted my choice on the poll, and Meet Joe Black is my recommendation to follow that film. I voted for Legends before I made my post. 😊 I shoulda specified lol

TBR Schmitt

*As a reminder, as we get these comments on every single poll, we have not seen these films. If you disagree with the genre pairing of a film, you'll have to take it up with the folks at Google ;) -Sam

Duncan

Outrageous Jonathan ,spamming the comments with suggestions of movies that are actually on the above poll, very disrespectful

Jonathan Patrick

Joke, right? lol did you read my reply. I voted for Legends before I even made that post.

Duncan

"Law Abiding Citizen (2009)" Gerard Butler,Jamie Foxx

Paul Cox

Legends of the Fall ever winning one of these would be a surprise, but it's the film in this group that's haunted me the most over time. Epic is an understatement.

TBR Schmitt

I wish we could! We've both seen it, but fantastic film!! -Sam

Jason Dolan

One day they will see BLOW OUT

Jonathan Patrick

100% One of the greatest in my life. Deserves to win, but won't. Popcorn in Bed actually did it, and Meet Joe Black. Hoping they will on this channel some day

David Crabtree

Future recommendations: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), Warrior (from 2011, if you liked Rocky), The Patriot (2000), Dazed & Confused (from 1993, many list it as a comedy, but it's more of a coming of age drama with natural comedic moments and levity throughout), Gran Torino(2008), Air Force One (1997), Rudy (1993), Rules of Engagement (2000), Diggstown (1992), For Love of the Game (1999), Remember the Titans (2000)

Paul Cox

I saw Trainspotting two times in the 1990s (in the theater, and then as a rental), so I'd forgotten a lot of the details until I revisited it during the pandemic as an adult with some lived experiences. YO THAT SHIT IS BLEAK. If it wins, you need to psych yourself up for it.

William 1611

It's so difficult to rate these particular films against each other, partly because they fall into separate sub-categories, but I guess "Drama" does cover them all. Three of them are based on real events: "The Last King of Scotland," "Ford v Ferrari," and of course "JFK." All three are excellent, but from purely a dramatic standpoint, I'd have to vote for Forest Whitaker and "The Last King of Scotland." But please, oh please, skip the historical stuff and go with the very best film on the list: Brian De Palma's "Blow-Out." It's a magnificent film, based on another magnificent film by a European director years ago.

Athos Count de la Fère

Voted for Ford vs Ferrari. My future poll suggestion is "Philadelphia" with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.

Thomas Yanez

"Blow Out" might be considered more of a thriller. Anyway, have you seen "Blow-Up" (1966), the movie that inspired it?

f hf

Have you guys seen All The President's Men?

Jarrod Hornbeck

Gotta do Blow Out. It clearly won’t win, but it also shouldn’t be in the same poll with some of these other movies. Do another thriller poll and put it in, and hopefully it will win. What a film.

mikethemotormouth

"From where you're standing, you're a man. From where I'm standing, you're an ape."

Eric Denney

Sam, as others have mentioned, really should put Blow Out on a "thriller" poll in the future (great movie btw). And Natural Born Killers definitely needs to get put in something else, thriller maybe. If there was a "psychotic" poll it would definitely fit in that 😂. Also a great movie.

mikethemotormouth

How about some crime dramas? Blood In, Blood Out(1993), Dead Presidents(1995), Once Were Warriors(1994)

Daniel Gurney

Legends of the fall was epic but already done a couple times, ford v ferrari was great and done as well. " Natural Born Killers" is epic and great and I believe you guys may have the opportunity to be the first reactors to this. I know my NBK fans are here. lets rock the vote!

Florian Meier

Gran Torino won the Last Drama Poll ;) Great List

Daniel Gurney

I would love to see some bound by honor though too, good call Mike

mikethemotormouth

Regarding NBK, James vs Cinema beat em to the punch two years ago then You Me and the Movies put up their reaction last year. Anyway, it's my favorite on this list so of course it's not doin great 🫤

Robert Boyd

I really hope Blow Out wins. Technically it would probably be classified as a thriller, but it also works as a drama too IMHO. It really is the perfect movie as it uses all of the elements of cinema to tell its story. And the Ending is just…well, I guess you’ll have to watch it to find out.

Bennett Holleman

Dead Poets Society is so cheesy and cringe that it shouldn't be on any list of good films. John Keating? OMG!

Daniel Gurney

yeah mine too, frustrating. All good things I guess.

Nick Sneddon

please just watch Trainspotting and get it over with haha! one of the greatest ever and arguably the best british film of the 90s

Stan the Man

It’s so bad lol. I get why people like it but it’s trying to manually squeeze every last emotion out of you

Stan the Man

Honestly the best “Don’t do Drugs” campaign in the world would be to just show this with “Requiem for a dream”

Nick Sneddon

right? and can you believe when it was released a lot of right wingers slammed it for GLAMOURISING drugs? absolutely ludicrous

dieselbeast

I'll put another suggestion for "Blood in Blood out" (crime drama) (1993) it stars Benjamin Bratt you've seen him before in Demolition Man and the love interest in Mrs Congeniality with Sandra Bullock

Paul Cox

Yeah, it's "1989 good" rather than "all-time good," but it's worth seeing if you've never seen it, which the Schmitts haven't.

David Wilkins

I’m still holding out for the Coen brothers’ crime drama Blood Simple. Hoping, waiting, and hoping again. Another great yet underrated crime drama is One False Move, written by and starring Billy Bob Thornton.

Tyler Foster

I'm thrilled that the Coens are winning the director poll. I know it's only for one movie, but I'm hoping this will be the thing that clinches them doing the whole filmography ala Tarantino, because there are so many comparatively underrated Coen masterpieces.

rtt143

Please Please "Legends of the Fall" One of Brad Pitt's first and best roles

Ken Veader

Blow Out deserves a watch nut its never gonna win apoll cause Im sure half your Patreons never seen it, one of DePalma's best tho

Ken Veader

They gotta see it, best movie on the list

Korny

Idk if you’ve seen Aerial America on the Smithsonian channel but that fine movie is like an episode covering Brad Pitts body. It’s a good movie but more in Sam’s wheelhouse I suspect.

Tyler Foster

I believe I said when it was on a poll before and I will say again: I also hope they pair it with T2 Trainspotting, which in my opinion is one of the greatest long-gap sequels of all time, up there with Blade Runner 2049 and Creed.

Nick Sneddon

I hated the sequel! I think I may have expected too much, maybe I should give it a rewind

daron85

Blow Out! In my opinion Brian De Palma's best film and John Travolta's best performance. One of my top 5 favorite films actually. More of a suspense thriller though. This was the era when De Palma was putting out his best thrillers.

rtt143

I respectfully disagree with the "body" comment with the exception of 1 intimate scene. Alot of great performances of Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond as well.

Ken Veader

I really hope they give this film a chance despite the polls

Jason Chirevas

BLOW OUT should really be on a thriller poll.

YoureMrLebowski

i'm not saying it's the best in this group, but i'm surprised The Last King of Scotland isn't getting more love.

Smooticus

Good to see Trainspotting break 100 votes even if it didn't with the poll
