No way I will do this again. I just finished with the update of Anna's new hair stile... it took me 11 days!!!

Do not ever ask me to change character in mid game... or if I want to do it.. please, shoot me.

Eleven days I am re-rendering, re-do animations, and editing hundreds of lines of code.I am so glad it is over.

Now is time to continue with the actual story.Just I wanted to let you know... it was a very tedious job... trust me.

And that's how dlc is born. Main project gets finished, cosmetic changes can happen at your desired pace without it affecting you negatively

Like later on different events like holiday events like Christmas, Halloween and birthdays. You add as dlc or bonus content depending what you want to do.

you do know that you can have them get a new hair style at "x" point in their stories and make it part of their story instead of redoing it for the whole game? kind of like, new house... new look. or family is all here, time for a new look for the wedding? if you had updated the model to a new Generation then yes i could see the whole game change. As for something as simple as a hair style change, not so much. I know some girls change their hair style/ color every few months.

In 2D "Japanese style" games, it is not a problem, because the dev. just will change some eyes, hair and mouth and the character stays in the same damn place. Some pseudo 3D games are the same... the character just stays in the same place with some background and it is not part of the 3D environment. This is the "easy and simple" you mention about. These games can change the character 1000 times with no problems. SimpleDays is full 3D with depth of field. The character is part of the environment - depth of field, lighting and reflection etc. and I have to re-render the whole scene. You can't just replace part of the character. Oh, I forgot to say, ... if the character never goes back to visit old places of the story, you also can change the character. But Maria will go to work. Anna will keep the old bedroom... If I want to use the old places, I have to re-render them.

thank you for the information, i was not thinking of the limitations of a sandbox game. Just that other full 3D vn's have introduced changes at a later part of a story, no repeating of previous scenes.

For the moment I have to keep the bedroom of MC the same.. in the future I will have time to change it but for now we have to compromised. MC has so many events in his bedroom and it will take too long to re-render all of them.... Sorry.
