2 prototypes were built and the Navy placed an order for 6300 of this aircraft, but the war ended before production. The A6M8 was equipped with an 1500 hp engine (A6M5 had 1150 hp). The propeller spinner was enlarged. The A6M8 was faster and could climb better than its predecessors. Thank you for this cool design.
