Backstage for "Rosetta Stone" (Patreon)

This is actually one of my oldest "publishable" works; I wrote it in my 20's. I've got older works out there -- "Night Fell On Laestra", a novel I posted half of here, was written in early college when I wasn't 20 yet -- but this one required very little in the way of rewriting.

The world of Majer was partially inspired by Zilpha Keatley Snyder's "Below the Root" series and the depiction of Kashyyk, the Wookiee homeworld, in a children's book I read, in the whole "humans live in trees and avoid the ground, which is swamp" thing; the twist at the end is inspired by Tanith Lee's "Sabella"; but the whole thing with the transmutes, the Rangers, the Magicians, etc, that was all stuff my brother and I came up with before I was 12. To be fair it was probably mostly me that came up with it, but I bet my brother added the Magicians because he loved psi powers even more than I do, and I sure do love me some psi powers. I don't remember very much about it, which is too bad, because maybe I could get some more story ideas out of it.
