Alaric keeps his promise to Landon here in a bigger way than letting the squad vote to help hope or not. Him leaving Cleo in the cell and “handling things by himself” was one of the flaws that Landon had brought up so him breaking her out and letting her help him lead to them defeating the monsters. Also, I think Vulcan is Hephaestus’s Roman name.
