I'm glad that there was such a positive response to my 1st April post. I've literally missed the opportunity the last two years and I wasn't going to this time around!

March and April have gone by crazily fast, and due to a mix of illness, some personal matters, and focusing more on background development I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. The good news is that the development work is going well and a lot of what I'm learning will be going into SSR1 and other devices I will be working on over the next few months. Silent, brushless motor driven OSR2 anyone?

Before the end of this month I want to get a revised set of build notes out for SSR1, going into a lot more detail about how to put it together. That will be the Maker ($8) tier release. There are a series of incremental hardware, electronic and software improvements I want to make to it, but I don't think I have time for those this month. I'm convinced we can get much better performance out of this device and I want to implement those changes before I try my hand at designing a multi-axis brushless device.

My Benefactors ($16) tier are now up to date with my Devstream newsletter, with February and March posted today. I managed to fall behind when I was ill and only just caught up. I've posted a couple of cheeky previews with this post.

If you ever wanted to get a closer view of what I'm working on on a more day-to-day basis and you want to go that little bit further to support my work this is the tier for you. This month I have been working on improving my cycloidal gearbox design, and I'm looking at using SPI protocol to improve the performance of the SSR1 encoder.

For my Supporter ($2) tier this month I will be livestreaming on Thursday 27th April at 11pm BST (5pm EDT). I've committed to an overseas trip this coming week and I won't be back until then. I haven't decided yet exactly what I will be discussing on the stream, but it's likely that it will be related to motor control systems and encoders. All the best!
