This is quit a mistery. Well. I am an anime only so I don't know anything. I just think.. The person who killed Subaru cutting his head off. I think that was Rem. But not her, but someone, something possessing her. She even said "Hero", that is how Rem called him. I think there is a being posessing others. Or at least posessing people who lost things.. "Natsuki Subaru was here" cut in his arm is such an evil troll thing. In some way or another, I think there is an imposter among us with an ability of posessing people. No clue if I am right or totally off.

Remember the wheelchair with Ram's body on it. The position and "what was missing" from the chair. That shouls sustain the theory. More so because, in the credits, the name of the VA for the "voice" reads "Inori Minase", who is Rem's VA. Does this mean...?

One more episode before the Rock Hits Bottom... S-Class storytelling. The camera angles, the sound design, the way they tease us with info we have seen before in this season and the others... It's interesting to see how, even in the midst of abject despair, Subaru is still Subaru. Though, to be fair, he is not happy with his previous self, seeing as his previous version left him with one hell of a mystery to solve, and none of the skills he had previously save for the most horrible of them: RBD.

I’m anime only to me it seems like maybe gluttony could possess people they erase and took over rem. Looked like her on the balcony and she wasn’t in the wheelchair. Would make the most sense and somehow ate Subarus memory before reset. plus they would be strong enough to kill everyone. Or in the library he maybe read gluttony’s book and that had some kind of effect.

Pops I was thinking the same thing my first time through this arc. I mean why would anyone do that to Subaru in the first place? Who benifits off him quick traveling to the stairs bottom like that?

There is a possiblity that you and others have forgotten about. Since you touched upon it; its the idea of a third party... among those are Certain Clones/revived dead (assuming there are ways left to have them made currently unknown); or maybe some new Sin Arch Bishop? Just want to add to the mystery. Have fun considering the options.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm wondering if at the end Subaru has his memory back and that the memory-lossed Subaru killed the girl. And that he wanted to let the real Subaru know that he was there.

Well, Rem herself doesn't know about the time reset mechanic (but she might assume he does get very vivid and real feeling visions at times). This 'thing' obviously knows about it. Honestly though I have no clue what happened.
