What I love the most is how, despite not remember how OG Subaru does things, THIS new Subaru, once he locks on, he starts lining up his dominoes like a pro. THAT is what makes them all say "Yes. It is Subaru". And the Ram and Meili conversations show it. Right now, those two were the most important to help chill. Because Ram can easily turn the others against him, and Meili... well, we already know where that road takes us.

First I was really, really conflicted about Subarus memory loss, and it only got worse. But I didn't notice what we were going to get: A new Subaru who makes almost the same progress as "the Subaru we know" in such little time. So he always had it in himself. He can be caring, understanding, loving enough to save Meili, endangering himself in the progress - and he of all people knows very well how bad it is to fall down there. He read the book, he saw Meilis life, so he really knows her like no other. And he understood her so well and was able to forgive her for what must have been the most painful death since the memory loss.
