There's no arguing it now; she is actually evil, and it doesn't matter if you are innocent. If you're around those she feels wronged her, no one is safe.. 💀

Actually, some of the evidences remained, but in such a poor state that they were barely readable (and probably found too late to be of any relevance anyway). The series has what we could call flashforwards who extend the chapter they end with new elements. That's how we know one of the letters survived the fire (and funnily enough it's the only flashforward who actually spoil an incoming event).

I'm kinda surprised anyone thought she was a good person. Everything she's done since like episode 2 has been in self interest. Her plot to crush the business competitor involved poisoning innocent Empire civilians. Like, I guess it could be argued she didn't poison them herself, but she knowingly leaked a poisonous recipe to bait the rival business. She knew what she was doing there. And that was in the Empire, whom she is allied with. If she poisons the people of her ally, what did people think she was gonna do to anyone affiliated with the Kingdom?

AH Brandon Reviews

id get it if she never really did anything crazy after her imma burn down the kingdom comments in episode 2, but every week she has shown her true colors more. im sure they will still argue though 🗿

Kaikasshu

Wow, I know why she has spell books of demons. The slime scene was wicked. Clevatess would love her

So far out of her 7 Grimoires we saw 5 of them : - Grimoire of Belzeebub : records Magic Spells and allows her to use any element. - Grimoire of Lucifer : records everything she heard and saw (also known as Grimoire of Wisdom in Haldoria) - Grimoire of Belphelgor : records her contracts with otherworldly entities, like the saint birds we see in this episode (or in episode 3 for the first time) and the Primordial Ooze in this episode - Grimoire of Mammon : records her possessions (it was shown only once so far, but it was used in her travel to the Imperial Capital as well) - Grimoire of Asmodeus : records curses

While it´s in no way an excuse, couldn´t a case be made that this is a result of her being to accepting in the past and at this point the betrayel just shattered with few exceptions her ability to contain herself anymore? Honest question Brandon: Considering how broad her list of skills is and that she refuse an quick ending to this how far do you belive she could go?

Next episode is the episode I've been waiting for 2 years. Don't worry, I don't care if you badshit it or love it, I'll enjoy your reaction anyway (and your honest opinion) ^^

groudonvert

Just to note, Robert could have investigated Sylvie and Friede's claims, tried to persuade them to back off without real prooves and if it didn't work, warn Elizabeth of what Friede was about to do. Robert could have stopped it if he had investigated, but he didn't do anything (and Elizabeth warned him about the Prince but he didn't listen). Elizabeth's hatred toward Robert is plainly justified actually. Not that I agree with what she's doing though.

Xetren

People just aren't used to an evil protagonist, I'd wager.

groudonvert

They should watch Death Note lol

AH Brandon Reviews

a majority of people only watch things they can relate to or argree with most of the time so when they get deep into something they dont understand they justify them as not being evil. Walter White, Light Yagami, all characters you are supposed to say arent good people by the end but mofos will try to argue otherwise cause they have zero media literacy lmao

Xetren

Talentless Nana too. We need more "evil" protagonists, honestly.

Xetren

I wonder if their Artifacts come with a name baked in, or if they name their Artifact themselves. Because if it's the latter, that sure says something about her as a person. Actually probably says something about her either way. Either fate gave her Artifacts named after demons, or she named them such herself.

Didrik Svahn

So I wonder would it be wrong or problematic if I think that Ellie here is best girl of the season? Because I know from the start that she was simply manipulated the knight commander. By making him feel safe with her and be on her side. So when the curtains finally drops, I love how she did do her vengeance as not even I could expert that it would be this bad. But I loved every evil expression she gave us alongside her monologue🥰

OnePieceMan

Nah, she's not evil. They attacked and harmed innocent people. Those soldiers weren't innocent either. There were only 2 things I was wondering. First, why she didn't off them when she did to that other soldier last episode. And second, why she went out of her way to wait so long. But that was answered by the end of the episode, since she needed to meet certain conditions to use him as a plan. I don't think there was anything bad about her pretending to forgive. She was dealing with hypocritical people who mindlessly follow orders in the first place and are willing to commit great evil. He had it coming. I was happy when it turned out she did go ham on them.

OnePieceMan

Her name will be what you find instead when you look for the term.

Didrik Svahn

Also the mention of the Grimm reaper was not a nickname for her. But rather a saying that adventures have where if they get too curious they end up dead. So the maid basically threaten a A ranked adventure to make her stop asking questions or look into what Elizabeth was going to do. Mind you that was an ally that she fought side by side with last episode. And she still threaten her after all of that. So if she treats her sister in arms that way… yeah those standing against her does not have any hope of mercy or kindness from her🗿

Didrik Svahn

Now with this show and Tanya we have two evil protagonists this anime season. Which is much more than usual.

groudonvert

That's a question that has yet to be answered in the Light Novel. And the author takes his sweet time to reveal it lol

groudonvert

I still route for Light Yagami, even knowing he's the villain of his own story.

groudonvert

Which is funny, because Elsa and Ellie actually become friends. But Mireille has some trust issues when related to Elizabeth.

papagolfwhiskey

She's definitely evil, convicted by her own words and actions. I don't relate to her. I'd rather be how she pretended to be. But damn I'm rooting for her.

papagolfwhiskey

"He had it coming" doesn't make her GOOD.

papagolfwhiskey

However I DO agree that neither Robert nor the Soldiers were innocent. However note it wasn't their war crimes that doomed them. It was their mere association with Robert.

Espor

Okay, I said, when she is going to show her signs, I would absolutely admit it. I was hoping and coping, thinking - when she calls out war crimes, she won't comit them. Until now, we could say everything she DID was justified. Now THIS... Well maybe he even is a wannabe knight. Did he participate in what they did to the villagers? I am not sure, but he didn't seem like it. They said they were abondonning evil leadership - yes they were betraying their leaders, which seemed justified. Well in the end it all doesn't matter. She didn't do it for the villages. She said it, she was willing to kill these men because they were with him, and he took her to prison - which she will never forgive. Yep, that wasn't justice anymore. She will comit warcrimes. A lot. So next episode we will see that guy with a redo of healer brainswashing?

OnePieceMan

That's what she said, but of course it all counts. Besides that, these people are just as merciless. They would kill her without a 2nd thought if they were ordered to. The only reason they surrendered is because they had no chance against their opponent. Who knows just how many innocent people they've killed and how many women they've raped, including little girls (and probably while killing their family or in front of their family just before killing them).

Gamesempie

About what I expected. She killed them and made her true target suffer as much as possible, but she did it smart. Bet she's not even going to get blamed for this, thise knights were technically under her supervision after all.

Wu I-hsiang

LN and Manga reader. I love her. I'm probably messed up in the head for saying that.

Zer0

Half the episode I was wondering when the mask would slip. She was way to nice to that knight that you knew it was just to get information out of him.

Vibal

So many people love Death Note, even though Light is NOT a good person. Same with Overlord. Or Saga of Tanya the Evil. People enjoy watching these shows, they are popular, and we don't need to relate to these MCs, or even like them. The development of the story is what is entertaining. I still prefer to watch this type of stuff when I am in a good mood. Yesterday, I watched a pretty depressing part of a romance anime, then that episode, and didn't feel like adding your reaction to it because it was a bit too much. I need my dose of wholesome and hopeful too.

groudonvert

Watch next episode when you're in a good mood, trust me.

groudonvert

Sorry, really long comment, but it's also a way for me to applaude your analysis ability. It's one of those series where the writing is either genius or lazy as hell. Do you know "show, don't tell" ? This series uses it to the extreme, i'm not even kidding. For good or bad, you can watch the series and be surprised by how brutal Elizabeth is at the end of this episode or you can listen to her, see what she's doing, pinpoint the way she's acting (like you did) and clearly know where the story was going. But if you don't do that, you can tell the writing is lazy and the author wants brutality for the sake of brutality without any flesh beyond that. Elizabeth never really explain her motivations, what she's doing, the reasons why she's doing it, except if it's necessary for her to explain herself (like the bandits in episode 3, she explains to Lunoa, because she's her apprentice). But the story itself shows them. The soldier she killed in episode 6 ? It can be either because he killed the villagers and r**** the women or because he wanted to atone after left alone... the explanation is never given, it's up to us to decide what's the correct answer. The series doesn't take the readers/viewers for idiots, once you know how the author writes the story you can get the plot twist quite easily and see where it's going, but my god how difficult it can be with so much show don't tell. Something like a week ago I discovered (once again) something that was in front of my eyes and didn't see (and I've read the first book and its manga adaptation dozens of times in the last two years).
