They actually just made some of the greatest fantasy worldbuilding I've seen all year.. the way the characters are challenging god and the rules of the world is blowing me away

3 episodes left let us see how they will handle the WORLD BUILDING in a real sense... and if they show it before the last episode or not.. it is a good series.. anime adaptation is ok.. not great not bad

I did not read the manga up to this, I only got to the start of the Casino part and I left it there to build up chapters after a while. Bro this world building is the best if not second best episode by far of this show. I'm interested in what the next stage is. Like a video game, it's like you will unlock the new planet, or new dimension to travel to, or something. It just sounds like there's loads more content up ahead when ever the story gets tot he part where we move to the next stage, but for now looks like our boy's goal still sticks to uniting the two race. This is so cool bro. 🗿

This has me thinking about overlord and how that started as a MMO that was going offline. What if this is like an MMO that nobody plays anymore but somehow the server still online with no players, and the NPCs have been interacting with each other for so long on their own that they become sentient and they're trying to figure out their universe. Elf guy has to be an admin of some kind, I don't know if he's a real person or player or like an AI or something but he seems to be like an admin of sorts.

I wonder, are we in a kind of simulation, well it must be in some capacity some kind of computer program. For it to be a regular game it would have to have "players" and until now, there is no hint for that.

With resetting in the mix it has me questioning the demons suddenly going blood thirsty during the purple witch's village visit. Though, I don't think she's over 30.

Wait... This dragon claims he knows the functionality of this world, but he doesn't know that the Demon King hasn't been killed by our MC, or that he is just in another dimension? I guess the dragon never said he was omniscient, but this means we can't take his words at first value. Another lore drop! The Demon King is revived merely by the MC forgetting he defeated him? You're right, it does feel simulation-coded! I honestly wasn't expecting this kind of lore drop. This episode was great.

I haven't seen SAO Alicization in a long while, but I believe it had a similar premise. The game world was a simulation which ran much faster than the real world, and the civilization of NPCs in there developed independently, simply accepting the rules and mechanics of this world as their own reality.

Despite Reki getting lolcow'd so much, SAO is a masterwork story, and Alicization is what pushed it over that threshold for me. I don't know if it was the big gap between seasons 2 and 3 that caused the fanbase to drop, but I have friends who, to this day, have mixed opinions about SAO and don't even know that Alicization was a thing. It's a completely different story after that point, and all the meta-human themes, all the raw philosophy, and the sheer fucking relevance to current events when it aired completely blew me away. I hadn't seen anything like it, and it scratched a certain itch. I'm thinking The Matrix and Alita: Battle Angel have an overlap with SAO3. And I don't know if it was because my life is computers and I understand what parts of SAO are at least plausible IRL, that I was geeking out over the entirety of season 3. I daresay it has even more relevance today. And for those who didn't pick up on the cyberpunk undertones of SAO3: IRL, we don't have a way to disconnect a human brain from a body without traumatizing it to death, unlike in Alita's universe. And copying a human brain into compatible hardware, à la Halo, would produce an intelligence with drawbacks similar to those of humans. So the natural workaround is to create an Actual Intelligence synthetically in a purely digital world, in the hope that transplanting it into whatever weapon of war we want won't traumatize it as a human brain would. It's the story of full-circle engineering with a touch of slavery thrown in. We can create advanced programs with artificial intelligence lethal enough for whatever we desire, but the threat is always there that they turn on their creators, so we decide we need a human in the mix to prevent that. But the human is too slow. So let's make an artificial human mind so we get the best of both worlds and enslave it for bonus points because we still consider it property even though we specifically engineered it to be "alive". Try explaining Season 3 to anyone who thought Season 2 was all of SAO. They'd be so confused.
