to all who argued she wasn't evil, have the apologies on my desk by next monday 🗿 I genuinely cannot think of a more evil MC than her no joke

Let me know what you thought!

Coping McCoperson

No apologies. We ride for Elizabeth inshallah! It’s so incredibly refreshing in the castrated genre of “revenge” stories lately where they kiss and make up halfway through the season.

Kaikasshu

Lady is a demon. Very disturbing but great episode to show how far she will go.

James Baxtet

Wow, 8 episodes for just the first Light Novel, that is epic.

OmninoVilis

And this was just the opening move...

AH Brandon Reviews

if you argued she isnt evil yes you need to apologise 🗿 liking her as an mc is not the same as arguing her actions arent evil

KayoMarsali

So, how do you think the "Ellie is justified in everything she does" crowd is going to justify this one?

groudonvert

Light Yagami and Anakin Skywalker are league above her in term of evil. At least, Elizabeth has some redeemable qualities (I don't think she helped the people just because it was her duty as a noble, but because she actually cared about them (her father doesn't care at all about the people and he's the one who raised her)). Elizabeth is a fascinating character to say the least, full of contradictions. Both demon and angel.

AH Brandon Reviews

well she just played with his mind a lil unfortunate accident you know /s

AH Brandon Reviews

if there is a world left all the war crimes will be named after her

Eviltwin01

Im not sure she will have a comeuppance though i suppose its possible and even likely. But idk the title of the anime being "A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even" just makes it feel like she wont be, like it wouldn't be a very good guide if it led to failure. But idk anything's possible i suppose, and maybe im just reading into a title too much. Either way i do love this show it do be crazy.

Didrik Svahn

I know that I may have joked about her being as evil as a IDF commander. But now I truly believe that she is as evil as a IDF commander. Who is willing to bomb even toddlers just for the chance of getting one target from her hit list. (And yeah I’m using IDF as a stand in here as I don’t know a modern group that does more evil acts then them)

KayoMarsali

She totally expected him to go straight back to the prince like the loyal pup he is. /s

papagolfwhiskey

Yes i'd say she is more evil than Tanya. Tanya is a ruthless pragmatist. This chick does evil for shits and giggles and revels in it.

Didrik Svahn

Also yeah I totally agree with you about that just because someone had good parts about them doesn’t mean that they could not be evil. Like Hitler was against smoking and banned it long before that become the common good thing in western countries. Plus he was a vegetarian and animal friend as he was against animal testing. But that does not take away from most of the evil stuff he did

Didrik Svahn

She makes Tanya almost appear as a saint compared to her🗿

papagolfwhiskey

I'd take tanya any day even over some to the people in her show. Being X is a dick. Mary Sue's Self Righteous Fanaticism pisses me off. Not-Beria need to be castrated then shot...

papagolfwhiskey

or maybe it's Not-Yasov. Beria's predecessor reputely actually historically had a taste for that shit.

For what it's worth, the whole demonic grimoire naming could be considered circumstantial, in that nowadays lots of shows have actually good Demon Lords (Rimuru) or even actually cool netherworlds (Iruma). But yeah, the previous episode already went well past the "inexcusable, but understandable" territory. Mind controlling someone to commit atrocities while still being aware of it - that's beyond heinous. I just want to address the notion that Robert was right to listen to the prince - I wouldn't take it for granted, because while the setting is roughly modelled after a stock fantasy Europe setting (may be early modern at this point), it might not follow how medieval institutions worked or how people commonly understand medieval institutions to work. It's its own fantasy setting first and foremost, even if somewhat medieval/early-modern shaped. And my read of Robert is that he didn't really think that deeply - "I must obey the prince, or else he might hurt my family" - but rather "that's what a knight is supposed to do". His father may have been taught a different idea of how to perform his duties, and for what it's worth, Elisabeth may have had similar ideas to Robert's father - that if the royal is about to do something foolish, it's the subordinate's duty to at least question it. Perhaps Robert's naive loyalty is also what made Elisabeth claim he's only "playing knight", not understanding the role. Of course, even if Robert's behaviour was considered inadequate in this setting, he was nowhere near close to deserving the fate he got. His judgement may have been deeply flawed, but he tried his best to do what seemed right at the time.

Xetren

She has literally said so herself that she did what she did in the Kingdom because it was her duty as a noble. Either she was always a questionable person, or it's bad writing. You can't have both. A person doesn't do a 180 like that in one day. She can't go from helping charity purely out of goodwill to wanting them all dead just like that.

AH Brandon Reviews

i have to go into antagonists and villains to find someone worthy to compare to, in terms of MCs I cant think of any. She genuinely enjoys everything she is doing, there isnt a goal to justify bad actions she just wants revenge

papagolfwhiskey

I got into this knowing nothing about the series. I was rooting for her in episode one and didn't take her declartions seriously. She ENJOYED breaking and stealing from that competitor a little too much for me to continue thinking she was 'good'. But these last two episodes have painted it in black and white. She is so, evil I wonder how good she ACTUALLY was compared to how she APPEARED to be in the first episode.

AH Brandon Reviews

i firmly believe she always was a bad person, her position just made it so she had no reason to act on her worst impulses.

OnePieceMan

I still don't think that what she did last episode was evil, but... what happened here definitely was. Would've been fine if the guy was used as the trigger to cause some havoc on guilty people, but he straight up went ham on anyone he can find, starting with his little sister. Honestly it doesn't sit well with me seeing children get brutally murdered (unless one really deserves it).

groudonvert

Being a questionnable person doesn't mean you can't be a nice person too ^^ If she was evil 100% of the time, Elsa, Mireille, Lunoa and Misha wouldn't feel anxious about her not being there or relieve when they see her. It would be the opposite. Also the anime (and the manga) didn't reveal who were her targets, so it looks like she wants to burn the kingdom to the ground.

groudonvert

Did you watch Death Note ? Light Yagami is one of my favorite MC of all time, but he's way above Elizabeth in term of evil.

OnePieceMan

If you dive into things, a lot is kinda debatable. In history he's made out to be far more evil than he actually was and even his book has been altered to make him seem that way. Of course I'm not claiming he was a good guy in any way, just that his history portrayal is quite inaccurate.

papagolfwhiskey

It certainly didn't take much for to turn on her nation. use underhanded tactics to steal a corporation's assets, buy a slave (I'm certain she was more interested in the quality of slave vs. the shadyness of the dealer) and then do the rest of her shit.

azope

I think the title is wrong it should have be "i was jail by my kingdome so i decide to become a nazie and torture and kill they all." I mean in episode 1 MC:i want to protected the kingdom Maid : they don't love you MC You sure ? Maid:yes Mc ok i will torture they all and kill they personaly if i was the empire guy that monitor her i would advice the emperpor to be very very cautiou around her

papagolfwhiskey

I did not watch Death Note never got into it. but I had heard that Light Yagami not only was a bastard but he thought he was the good guy.

azope

redo of healer ? But a least the mc to redo of healer is quite of justified in his act and do it only to piece of shit

Didrik Svahn

Yeah I think the narrative that the nazi was the ultimate bad guys. Was been pushed a little too much in the last decades. As yeah while they were evil, many other regimes and governments through the last 100 years. Has also been very evil during certain times, so it’s not something unique to the nazis as a whole

AH Brandon Reviews

ya like what happened to her wasnt even that crazy, her lfie was ruined 100% but she is acting like the worst thing ever of all time like no girl you just wanted an excuse to be EVIL

groudonvert

a nazi ? she's not racist lol

Talix Rune

As for a more evil MC, possibly the main character of Redo of Healer. I dropped it real fast, but from what I've heard from people about it, it gets worse the farther into the show you get.

papagolfwhiskey

I'm not sure an IDF commander is as evil as her. Bibi maybe but that's political

papagolfwhiskey

Sums up my sentiment. Robert in noway deserved what he got. But he was not pure as the driven snow and should have taken some responsibility for his choices.

Vibal

During my first viewing, I cringed when I saw Robert had a little sister. I understand why people told me last time to be in a good mood to be able to tank that episode. Weirdly enough, it didn't hit me as hard as a wholesome romance whose female lead suddenly announces she has cancer right after the male lead finally told her his feelings. At least, for A Livid Lady, I knew it was revenge and was expecting things to get ugly (like watching GoT as you said). For that romance, I forgot the ominous message in episode one and was not prepared when the news hit. Elizabeth was so freaking evil just now that a Satan-looking guy seems to want to offer her a carrier opportunity, damn.

Vibal

That reminds me of a post from someone saying they hate moral relativism. That some people point out Hitler's vegetarianism, anti-smoke policies, etc. as if it invalidates his evil acts, or MLK Jr. or Mother Theresa's questionable acts as if it invalidated the good they did.

Wu I-hsiang

"Just following orders" is not a valid defense, and I will die on this hill.

AH Brandon Reviews

you might be right, i never actually watched it but id say thats about the only one that probably is? but I guess when you look at sheer number of victims she would beat him? again i dont know much outside the first episode so maybe his alter actions outnumber her

AH Brandon Reviews

yeah usually it's 6 episodes or 12 episodes for a ln, sometimes even 4, idk the last time someone told me 8 episodes for one. i dig the pacing

AH Brandon Reviews

the character in question didnt do anything crazy, he did normal soldier duties. he was involved in nothing insane and when he saw insane things he noped out

Didrik Svahn

I meant from the stories of how air strikes from IDF. Have even killed babies that were just getting their birth certificates. That is pretty evil if I say so

Didrik Svahn

I disagrees with this as the MC from that show. Mostly just comes after people who have wronged him. Even in the new timeline he has a moral code. Where he needs to be wronged first before doing evil stuff towards them often. So yeah even if he creates excuses for that to happens. He never goes after innocent kids or mothers in the shows from what I remember. Most of the evils he does is either SA or murders. Sure he does brainwashing also to build himself a harem. Of his counted opponents, but still I would not call that as evil as Ellie is shown here

Espor

First, I was expecting her to spare people who didn't do general injustice. Then I began to think she is ready to kill everyone who crossed her, but no innocents. But yeah, she is not just a little evil. This bitch snapped when she was betrayed - or always had it in her. Making someone who prouds himself as a knight of honor, kill innocent and children he swore to protect - also killing and making the children and innocent suffer in the progress. I guess other shows with revenge plots made me soft. She will be worse than Deneris. Where is Jon snow where we need him? I still want to see the prince and that bitch and her father suffer, but still, someone needs to stop this demon

Espor

Also, yeah, watching Elisabeth is interesting. She is totally unpredictable. She is not a good person sometimes doing evil, she is a evil person who somehow did a lot of good things before tearing the world apart. Finally, about suggesting she is good. I fully admitted it the previous episode when there was the first hard proof. I did want to trust her before but I think I didn' stay at her side any second longer she deserved.

Wu I-hsiang

I'm not saying he did, but I'm just saying "just following orders" is not a valid defense.

Espor

Sorry I don't see any signs of compassion. She only cared about the production of her goods since those were key to her plan

Espor

And the people he did fuck over, even the r***, they did it to him before. It's no excuse in the end and that guy is fucked in the head but you could claim his deeds were "justified" more than you can say with Ellie

Xetren

Being "evil" doesn't mean you aren't nice to anyone. What you're thinking of is "pure evil", which does not exist anywhere outside of fiction. She has people she values, and those she is nice to. But that doesn't make her a good person. Even terrible people have those they care about, especially in real life. She's a terrible person. Anybody who knowingly slaughters innocent children is not a good person. You're coping beyond belief.

Xetren

Well, they were going to have her executed. It really doesn't get much worse than that. She's a terrible person, yes. But I wouldn't go so far as to say what happened to her "wasn't even that crazy".

groudonvert

Of course she's not a good person. But allow me to disagree when I'm supposed to accept she's 100% evil, when she's not ^^

nebson10

If I was Lord Lucas, I would say something like "I'm not comfortable with the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents. If you plan on continuing to do that, then I'd like to distance myself from you. But I'd rather not be on your bad side. Is there an amicable way for us to part ways?"

groudonvert

He gains more from the partnership than her.

Gomasen !

My jaw was on the floor when I saw the sister's head fly 😱 I've been thinking this since last week but I haven't felt this kind of shock since watching school days lol. By that i mean, you come into a show thinking it's going one direction just like another 100 shows before it and it goes the opposite way. You keep thinking, surely they're not gonna do that but they go even further. Honestly, the writing was on the wall we just chose to ignore it 😂.

Coping McCoperson

just a little devils advocate here, obviously a bit far but you do realize that had she not possessed the ability to escape her cell she would have been killed for literally nothing right? The moral grandstanding is becoming a bit gross

Coping McCoperson

TIL getting put to death for absolutely nothing is no biggie. Great insight azope sama

papagolfwhiskey

No I don't think she would have been. The country literally needed her to run things and made her do so even in prison. And even if I'm wrong the threat of execution does not justify the killing of innocents.

groudonvert

And yet, even when they take the revenge direction, they change course immediately to show Robert in a better light... something a revenge series never do.

groudonvert

I must say it's quite interesting, since you figured out very early how evil she could be, I legit thought there was nothing I would discuss with you since I would agree with everything you'd say. Buuuut... as it stands out, I don't agree with everything you say but for the opposite reason ^^ For a fan of the series like me who loves talking about it and theorizes about stuff, having someone who doesn't agree with me is a gold nugget. Hope you don't mind ^^

Paul Tar

what intrigues me is that her divine artifacts are named after demons/devils...and the more she uses them (at least in the anime), it seems the more corrupted/evil she becomes.

groudonvert

Unlimited Gatcha was 7 episodes for the first volume. But yeah it was crazy ^^

Didrik Svahn

Exactly he never goes after innocent people in the same way that Ellie does. So no matter how twisted he may be in the head. He is still not even close as evil as Ellie

Xetren

I don't believe anybody is saying she's "100% evil". That doesn't exist. As Brandon even said in the reaction, there are people generally considered evil in real life that also happen to do nice things. That is because "100% evil/pure evil" does not exist, it's an impossibility. Even Hitler had good qualities. When people say she's evil, they don't mean she never does anything nice. Evil people do nice things, that's just human nuance. Ellie is absolutely an evil person overall.

OnePieceMan

But he was not shown in a good light. They showed he was just a mindless drone who just wanted to follow the prince's orders blindly, not necessarily the royal family's orders (which would include the prince's father). That's why his father got mad, because the prince actually did not have the authority to do what he did. He made no effort to check with others either. The prince knows that as well and got rid of the evidence of his involvement, so he threw everyone who followed his orders under the bus to save his own skin.

OnePieceMan

I dunno, I read a manga with a protagonist who is far worse. He doesn't personally 'assault' people, but he has no problem setting up a situation where a whole group has their way with someone and then he kills them all in gruesome manners. He forces a father to eat his children at some point... but that whole family was very evil. And nearly everyone in that manga is insanely effed up to begin with. If anyone's curious, it's called The Hero Who Seeks Revenge Shall Exterminate with Darkness. Don't expect a deep story, it's just torture porn, so to speak. Just some guy dishing out much-deserved revenge to evil people and them getting their due.

Noname Noface

I had considered that Elizabeth had done some questionable actions before now, but this clearly lands her into pure evil territory. It is also funny the number of people that have caused/could have prevented all of this: from the king, who could have just taught his son that there are limits to what a royal can do if the want to be able to die a peaceful death at an old age, to Elizabeth's father, who also decided to let the prince get away with his bad behavior, to the prince, who is completely unfit to rule, to the scheming girlfriend, who is also evil, and of course Elizabeth, who could have simply have murdered the prince on her way out of prison but instead decided to go into a completely no limits revenge.

Xein

More than evil I would describe her as a complete an absolute sociopath without moral limits. En evil person would do this type of thing just because. She is doing because of revenge and truly believes she is in the right and that every single person on the kingdom betrayed her and deserves punishment

Sage Bastien

i'm watching up this anime, but god this anime made me feels the same way when i was actually reading overlord sometime xD Since in the anime, the "evil part" of Ainz is somewhat lacking
