Back in episode 8, when Boraqchin and Möge listen to Fatima reading the alchemy book written by Jabir ibn Hayyan, Boraqchin subtly gave herself away by saying "Heating raj-al gar (aka the mineral known as "realgar") turns it white and increases its toxicity"... You may know that white powder by its proper name: Arsenic. Grinding down realgar and ingesting it is poisonous but not inherently lethal, it's more akin to lead poisoning, since the arsenic isn't concentrated... but pure arsenic instead kills in a matter of hours/days. Braqchin likely tested the realgar on herself first to make sure she could poison Ögedei just enough to set everything up, plus also using Töregene as a scapegoat for the poisoning of Ögedei. Boraqchin is also the one who organised the ritual with the shamans, so you now know what was in that water... Irl, Tolui's death isn't very well documented, however there's indeed a rumor of his death being caused by a ritual to save Ögedei from an illness. With all the lack of documentation on Tolui and all the convenient rumors making him seem like a saint/role model, one can't avoid wondering if such rumors came to be just to clean his reputation since he's the Otchigin... But regardless, Tomato Soup sensei did an outstanding job in reworking the rumor of the ritual into a hidden poisoning plot.
